DAY 1: TAKING THE LEAD | Activity 1: Playing Favourites [4 points] | SLJ

Today I have completed the first activity for Day 1 week 2. For this activity I had to write down 5 things that I like to do and add pictures of me doing them. The 5 things I like to do is:

Taking random photos of myself
Playing Netball
Talking with my friends
Doing the Summer Learning Journey
And I also like doing Tik Toks

Activity 3: Own Choice [6 points] | SLJ



LI: To say 3 things about a person you thought was a changemaker. 

Today I have finally completed the last activity for day 5 and week 1. For this activity we had to choose one person (a changemaker) and read all about them.
On your blog, provide:
  1. The name of the person
  2. A description of the work they do/have done
  3. An explanation of how they/their work has had an impact on the lives of others

The person I chose was Jessica Watson.

Activity 2: Swimming to Safety [4 points] | Summer Learning Journey

LI: to make a remake of Yursa Mardini's story.

Today I have completed the second activity for day 5. For this activity we had to create a remake story about Yursa Mardini. Here is my remake story:

Yursa Mardini is a 21 year old girl. At the age of 18 her and her sister were travelling to Europe ( this was when the Syrian war was on to find safety, they were refugees) . They departed from Lebanon to Turkey before departing to Greece, 15 minutes crossing in sea the boat's engine failed and Yursa, her sister and another person swam 3 and a half hours saving about 20 people before the boat capsized. 

About a year later Yursa's swimming skills, courage and determination were attracted by the International Olympic Commitee. Yursa Mardini became the a member of the first ever Refugee Olympic Team. 

Yursa continues to concentrate on her professional swimming career in Germany Berlin.

DAY 5: AGAINST THE ODDS | Activity 1: National Treasure [4 points]

LI: to write 3 things that are important to you and why.

Today I have completed the first activity first day of day 5. For this activity I had to write down 3 things that are important to me and why. -


  1.  My family
Why? - My family is my closest treasure to me. My family have been supporting me and been with me through so much. They were the first people to know me. My family would sacrifice anything for me and my siblings. They also give me eternal love.

       2. Pacific Rim Productions

Why? - Pacific Rim Productions is a cultural dance group.   I have been in the production for about 1-2 years. They are like my second family, all the children learn new dances from different cultures and we all enjoy dancing. We always sleep over at our coordinator and CEO's house in weekends sometimes. We all call each other family and a team. 

        3.  My birthday cards

Why? - My birthday cards are very important to me because I mainly get them from my dad. My dad makes the effort to create my own birthday card my getting a plain birthday card and drawing things on them and writing stuff down himself. I keep all of my birthday cards in a box in my room so I can always remember my dad when he passes away and so I have memories. I only get this once a year.

Activity 3: Worth her Weight in Gold [6 points] | Summer Learning Journey

LI: To create a brochure about a place.

Today I have completed the last activity for day 4. For this activity we had to create a brochure about tonga or a place that is important to you. I come from tonga so I chose tonga. I used canva to create my brochure. The brochure was promoting the place and saying places that you should visit there. One of the places to go to was swimming with the whales.

Today I have completed the second activity for day 4. For this activity we I had to imagine that if I was changing my name what would I change it to. My name is Fau.

Name - Fau

Name I would change to - Daniela.

I would change my name to Daniela because my middle starts with a D.

Today I have completed the first activity for day 4. For this activity we were talking about Serena and Venus williams. We had to watch 2 videos about them and write down 3 things you have learnt. I used a google slide deck to complete this activity.

Activity 3: Achieving our Dreams [6 points] | Summer Learning Journey



LI: To interview a family member or a friend and ask them what there dream job would be.

Today I have finished the last activity for day 3. For this activity we had to interview a family member or a friend. I chose my sister. My sister's name is Fui, she is 13 years old. Her dream job is becoming a model. I created a DLO showing 6 things I would do to help her succeed.

Activity 2: Defying the Odds [4 points] | Summer Learning Journey



LI: To make 5 question for Steve Adams, LeBron James or someone of yoru choice.

Today I have completed the second activity for day three. For this activity I had to write down 5 questions for either Steve Adams, LeBron James or someone else of our choice. The person I chose was Steve Adams. Steve Adams is a basketball player in the USA but originally comes from New Zealand. I wrote down the 5 questions on a google doc to record down my questions.

DAY 3: TEAM PLAYERS | Activity 1: Rugby Superstars [4 points] | Summer learning journey



LI: To tell what 3 superpowers you would want and why if you were a superhero.

Today I have completed the first activity for day 3 summer learning journey. For this activity we had to say 3 superpowers we would like to have if we were a superhero. The 3 powers I chose was Psychokinesis, Teleportation, and Shape Shifting. I wrote down why I chose them and what I was going to do if I had them. I added one photo at least for all 3.

Activity 3: Miracle on the Hudson [6 points] | Summer Learning Journey



LI: to create a DLO based on someone you thought has been brave.

Today I have completed the last activity for day 2. For this activity we had to talk about someone who we thought was brave. The reason why I though I was brave was because I accomplish and overcome many things. One of the bravest things I have done was present a speech in front of my whole school, I was really nervous but I worked hard to make the speech and build the confidence to present it.

Activity 2: One Small Step for Man [4 points] | Week 1: Physical Limits

LI: To create a short poem about how you would feel if you forst stepped foot on the moon.

I had completed the second activity for day 2. For this activity I had to create a poem about how I would feel it I first stepped foot on the moon. The type of poem I have done was a Haiku Poem. I had used an online site that helps me make a Haiku Poem. A Haiku poem is a traditional Japanese poem with 5,7,5. The first sentence has 5 syllables, the second sentence has 7 syllables and the last has 5 syllables again. My poem was called " First foot on the moon".


Activity 1: Flying Solo [4 points] | Week 1: Physical Limits | DAY 2: UP IN THE AIR

LI: To compare and contrast Jean Batten and Amelia Earhart.

This week was the second day of week one for the summer learning journey. For this activity we had to create a compare an contrast for Jean Batten and Amelia Earhart. They were both known well for many of their flights being solo. They both accomplished many things in life. In the compare and contrast we wrote down 3 of their differences and 3 of their similarities. They were both brave women who had the courage to fly solo from country to country, they both had a big amount of confidence despite the risks and the fact that they were girls they still tried.

Today I completed the last activtiy for day 1 of the summer learning journey. For this activity we had to chose a charity and write a short description of what they do. I chose OXFAM. LI: To explain our cultural and family backgrounds.

Today I have completed the second activity for the summer learning journey or day 1. For this activity we had to explain our cultural backgrounds and family backgrounds. We created a google map to show where we come from, where we have travelled to and also where some of our family members live. Using the google maps app we had pinned down the places. My family comes from tonga but lives in NZ and some lives in Australia.

DAY 1:Explororers | Activity 1: Setting Sail [4 points] | Summer Learning Journey



LI: To list 10 foods that you would take out to sea for 21 days and explain why.

Today was the first day of the Summer Learney Journey, I have done activity 1 day 1. We had to list 10 foods that we would take out into sea and explain why we would take them. The foods we chose was foods that were non-perishable. Non-perishable foods are foods that don't get spoilt easily or needs to be put a specific place before you eat it. The items I chose was 42L of water, 2,400g of canned tuna, dried seaweed, baked beans, spaghetti, nuts and dried fruits, tea bags, granola bars, fruit cups, and rice cakes.

This week for my basic facts boxes I have done the Multiplication task. I have done the speed demon multiplication time tables boxes. I have gotten all of them right in 5m and 27s.

This week for SSR Selfie I have read a book called Dawn Raids. It is about a samoan half cast Sophia. She s 13 years old and goes through the history of dawn raids.

Maori | Nama

LI: To learn how to say numbers in maori.

This week for maori we have been continuing with numbers. We learnt how to say and understand numbers in maori. e.g Mano is thousand, and miriona is million. In partners we could make our own numbers and write it down on a google doc.



Kiwi Can | Fun Week

This week was our last week of Kiwi Can. This was the "FUN WEEK!". For the fun week we played games the whole session. We did a little recap in the beggining of the session about the things we have done this term. The games we played was Bitty Bitty Bop, Do this do that, Musical Cones, Color Coordination and more games.

Describe a Setting | Danny the champion of the world


LI: To write a setting description of one of the settings in the book.

This week the activity I had chosen to do was describe a setting. For this setting I chose the gypsy caravan and the apple tree next to it. Then using descriptive language and the 5 senses with some help I had made a paragraph describing the setting.

Unit Fractions | Maths


LI: To learn how to find a unit fraction of a set.

To find a unit fraction you must divide the set of object by the number of groups. We continued with fractions and unit fractions. We had done some examples on unit fractions and show fraction of sets. e.g:

My set size is 8. I need to find one half. Halves are 2 equal sized groups, so I divide by 2.
÷ 2 = 4
One half of 8 is 4.

Activity 2: Exploring Our Roots | Teaser Week | Summer Learning Journey

Today to get myself ready for the Summer Learning Journey I am doing the teaser week. This year again Panmure Bridge School is attending the school blogging progamme Summer Learning Journey. This programme helps students from around New Zealand to still keep their blogging skills and literacy skills in the level they need to be or even higher. During my years as a senior this has helped me with my literacy and my learning at school.

For this activity I had to create a pepeha for myself using a pepeha website or a google doc template showed from an example from the Summer Learning Journey Website. A pepeha is like a short description about yourself and where you come from. To create the pepeha I used an online site that helped me and gave me some information about the pepeha.

Activity 1: New Zealand Royalty | DAY 1: ARTS & ENTERTAINMENT | Teaser Week

Today to get myself ready for the Summer Learning Journey I am doing the teaser week. This year again Panmure Bridge School is attending the school blogging progamme Summer Learning Journey. This programme helps students from around New Zealand to still keep their blogging skills and literacy skills in the level they need to be or even higher. During my years as a senior this has helped me with my literacy and my learning at school. This year the theme was "Change-Makers".

For this activity I had to create an infographic about the famous New Zealand Singer "Lorde". Using an example shown on the Summer Learning Journey site we had to add Lorde's real name and some facts and information about her that can inform people on who she is. An infographic is a graphic that informs and explain something.

Narrative Hook | The cusp of extinction!

LI: To create a hook of the beginning of a narrative.

This week for writing we have started with narratives. Using the character and setting description form last week we are starting on our narratives. We were first focusing on the hook. The hook is the beginning part of the story or the part that draws the readers attention so they would like to read more.With the advice from Mr Ogilvie he suggested that for the hook we should start the beginning from the end or start with an onomatopoeia. An onomatopoeia is words like: "SPLASH!" or "BOOM!".

SSR Selfie | Bollywood Burglary

This week I have read the book called " Bollywood Burglary". It is about how Geronimo and his friends take a journey together by helping each other complete a movie in India.


Cybersmart | Legal Images

LI: To find three different ways of finding Legal Images.
Legal Images means an image that is allowed to be used due to public domain. In groups of 2 we made a movie about different ways to find Legal Images. There are three ways: Slow Way, Fast way and Super, Super Fast way.



Tennis | Kiwi Sport

LI: to learn how to play by 1v1 in Tennis.

This week was one of the last weeks of tennis. For tennis we competed against each other on 1v1. After that all the champions and 1 challenger comepeted. The winner out of the yr 6's was Alayah.

This week for kiwi can we have been continuing on with respect. With a recap from last week we were talking about differences between each other and that we should respect anybody no matter the circumstance.  For the enigiser we had done mirror mirror.

Days of the week | Maori

LI: To understand and say the maori names of the week.

This week for maori we have been doing days of the week in maori. Using a google doc we sorted out the names in maori that are assimilation names and traditional names. (e.g) if the english name for wednesday is wednesday that the assimilation name would be wenerei, if it were the traditional name it would be "Raapa". The assimiliation names are the names that sound like the word.

Karaka | Time in Maori



LI: To understand the time in maori.

This week for maori we have been learning how to say and understand the time and numbers in maori. Using a clock generator we had gotten images that showed the time so we could understand it. (e.g) if the time in maori said "Hawhe pahi te rima karaka te taima" it would it it was half past five, or 5:30. If the time said "whitu karaka te taima" it would mean it was seven o'clock or shown as, 7:00.

Character Questions | Danny the champion of the world

LI: To create a DLO with 5 questions based on the main characters of the book.

This week the activity I have done was questioning. I have done 5 questions for the mains characters Danny and his Dad. I chose questions that wouldn't be answered in the book. For this week we had to read to the end of the book. I am upto the last chapter.

Maths | Fractions of Sets

LI: To learn how to find the unit fraction of a set. 

This week for maths we have been continuing with our planes. We chose our planes from the book and ripped out the paper and strated folding. The plane I am doing was the sonic star. With my design I only had 5-7 steps. For the learning we have been doing fractions. We started with halves and quaters. We had to find out what a fraction and fraction of sets are. 

Fraction meaning: A fraction is a whole that divided into equal pieces. 

Fraction of sets meaning: A fraction of a set is a whole set of objects divided into equal sized groups of objects. 

We also had to find the unit fraction of a set. To find the unit fraction of a set I must divide the set by the number of groups.
