Kiwi Can | Patience

LI: How will you react while being patient.

This week for Kiwi Can we have been working on being patient. We talked about the things that make us impatient and the outcomes of being impatient. We played 2 games based on being patient. From those 2 games I have learnt that the more you are being patient the better the outcome, or you would achieve more and get a reward.

Kiwi Can

LI: To learn how we can respect ourselves and each other in many different ways.

This was our first session for term 4. We had Mr Latu and new kiwi can leader, Mr Simanu. For this term our theme is going to be Respect. This week we are learning how to respect one another and mainly ourselves.

Tooty Fruity!
For our enegiser we did an activity based on our listening skills and how well we can listen. So Mr Simanu would say some fruits and we had to react to those fruits with the action that they are. Apple is jump forward, orange is jump backwards and banana is turn 80 degrees. We had a challenge. If you didn't do the right action or did it slow you we elimanated. At the end winners were Me, Charlize and Andrew.

Next we talked about what makes us unique and some unique things about ourself. Everybody is different, we have different fingerprints, looks, etc.

1 Lie, 1 Truth
For the activity we had to come up with 1 lie and 1 truth about ourselves. Someone will stand up and say 1 truth and 1 lie about themselves. First it was Mr Simanu, his 1 truth and lie was that he's been bunjy jumping and he was a contemporary/ballet dancer. We had to go to either side of the room and Mr Simanu will choose the group that was right. After Mr Simanu was Mr Ogilvie, his was he can eat a 6 inch long subway in under 30s and he can eat a cheesburger in one bite. The correct answer was he can eat a 6 inch long subway in under 30s. Then Mr Latu chose 3 people from the class to do it.

Kiwi Can | Fun Week | Last Kiwi Can Of the Year

LI: To learn about Respect and Respecting our community.

This week was the last week of Kiwi can this year. This was our fun week. We recapped on what we have been learning this whole term and year. We had three catchphrases. One for school, Our community and our environment. We talked about respecting each other and the area in our community. We also talked about how we could show respect. You could show respect by being kind to others and also showing care. We could show show respect in school by being enthusiastic and help out people in need. We could show respect for our environment by picking up rubbish and putting rubbish in the correct bins so it doesn't make it other peoples jobs harder. We could also not throw rubbish on the ground because they can go in the drains and go to the sea and affect sea life and pollute our water.

Kiwi Can

LI: To respect our school.

This week for Kiwi Can we were talking about respecting our school. We were first talking about breaking the rules and why we do it. Sometimes we can break the rules when we are bored, have nothing to do or more. I break the rules sometimes in the classroom but not all the time.

Our energiser was called " Centre Ball " Miss Paige made it up. So we make a circle, and Miss Paige numbers us 1-4. When our number is called then we run around the circle clock wise and when we get back to our spot we need to try get the ball first but do diving. We did this to see if we listen to the rules and if we break them. Some people were still diving and that meant some of us were breaking the rules.

Our activity was called Bus Stop. We had to split into different groups and write down what is shown on the board then copy it down on  the paper we had got given.  Mr Matt or Miss Paige picks a letter and we write down anything connected to the topic and a word that starts with the letter chosen.

After that we all talked about respect and what respect is. Then we all said " 1 2 3, 1 2 3 KC Shoo".

Kiwi Can - Fun Week

Today for Kiwi Can we had Fun Week. Fun week is when you go to kiwi can you can just play games. We played a game where you have to have a amount of players for example 6 players each team. So  we first came to Kiwi Can we had been split into 2 teams, Bib Team and Non Bib team. I was in Non Bib Team. So some people from my group had to go up and play the game and some people from the other team had to come and play too. So this is how you play, If your team is in then that means you are the passing team so passing the ball around to your other teammates and your teammates have to try tag someone using the ball that is not in you team so the other team which is trying to run away from the ball. The next game was called Hit the cone. So in our team group we had to make a big circle and in the middle of the circle is someone from the other team and a cone. So we had to try knock down the cone and the person who is from the other team has to try defend the cone.  After we played another game so we had to make like a tower using objects you have been given and the height needs to be about your hip. When we have finished making our towers with our team, both teams had to try knock down each others tower so Bib team had to try knock down our tower and we had to try knock down the other teams tower. The team who knocks down the other teams tower the most wins that game. This took us all the way to morning tea.

Kiwi Can

Today we did Kiwi Can with Ms Latoya. First we were going over what is respect and how we should respect other people that have different cultures so like if you have someone touring and they are Samoan then you can say Talofa Lava so they can feel comfortable. We were talking about this in our groups then we all had to give our results to Ms Latoya. Then we had to be put into teams. After that we had an object and with that object we had to try make it into something else. For example - A bean bag can be a Frisbee, Also it can be a Pancake but square shape. So we needed to open our imagination. Each group had a turn to make the object into something else. Each group had interesting Ideas! After that we played buddy up buddy down. This is how you play the game. So we have to buddy up then with our partner we make a circle so one of your partner is inside the circle and the other on the outside. If Ms Latoya says "Buddy up" then you and your partner has to swap places. Then Ms Latoya says Buddy Right the the partner on the outside circle has to run around the circle then try run as fast as they can to get back to their place then same with the left side if Ms Latoya says Buddy Left. This took us until morning break. As always after our session we all say " Kiwi Can says, Kiwi Can says, KC Shoo!"

Kiwi Can

Today for Kiwi Can we only had Mrs Latoya as our kiwi can teacher.  We went inside the room to do Kiwi Can we got into numbers 1 all the way to 4. The first game we played was called stinky socks we had hula hoops. Mrs Latoya has to have a beat. When her beat stops and she call's out a number when she said her number we all have to make that number in  one hula hoop using our feet. If we have the amount over the number she called out then all of us who were in that hula hoop is out.  After that we sat back down. Mrs Latoyah was talking to us and saying what and how was respect included in that game then we played another game that game we played   it was about we need to throw the bean bag to someone in you team then they need to tag someone else that is not in your team. After that we all sat down and did G.K.Q then we headed back off to class

Kiwi Can

Today for kiwi can we were doing Respect. We played a game called Flip it. When we first started our session at kiwi can we had been put into groups and all of our groups had to speak to each-other about ourselves. After we did that we played another game which we had to role around like an egg then try tag other people if you get tagged from someone, anyone you need to bob down and bob around so your a kiwi and if someone tags you again you turn back into a egg. After we did that we had played a game called flip it. Flip it is Volcanoes and Valleys but different name. So there were two groups each group had to try make the cones become valleys or volcanoes depending on which group you are in. So my group was trying to make volcanoes which was trying to flip the cone up like a volcano and then the other group flips the cone upside down.
