How to multiply a Fraction


LI-Find fractions of whole number amounts using multiplication and division.

Solve multiplication and division problems that involve fractions.
This week for maths we had to learn how to multiply a fraction. We had to do an animation to show how to multiply fractions. My Fraction was 2/4 x 9. I had to use a google slide to do this. I used sqaures as my shape to show it. We had to show other people who don't know how to multiply fractions. 


Visualising | Questioning




LI: To visualise and question scenes in a book. 
This week we had to learn how to visualise and question a scene in a book. We used a template to put down our visualising and questioning. We had to pick a book, pick a scene, read the scene, make a question, find the answer (if any) to your question, and make your visualisation. We had to visualise and question over 2 books.

Winter Olympics | Parody

LI: To Write a quick narrative for the Manaikalani Festival.
This week Mr Wong's Writing groups had to write a narrative about our winter olympics. We had to make it a parody. We had to make it to be in spot for our film. We had to  make it funny. We had to triple up with someone. 

Cybersmart | What is Media



LI: To define and learn about media. 
Today for cybersmart we had to get into 2-3 pairs or triples. We had to first talk to our neighbours to see what do we think media is. We had make a copy of this google slide and write down what we think Media is and watch some videos about media. I worked with Sulia and Angelica. We found that media is like, something that hold information, also like communicating with the internet using digital devices.

Swimming | Kiwi Sport | YMCA

LI: To learn how to swim safely.
This week thursday year 3-6 students had to go have there Kiwi Sport at YMCA pools in Panmure. We first had a test to see which group you had to go in. There were 3 groups. One group at the end near the little kids swimming pool, then second group in the middle, the third group at the end near the spa. I was in the third group. For our test we had to freestyle swim, before that we learnt a safety entrance to the pool. After that we had got spilt into our groups. In my gorup we learnt how to kick facing upwards with no hands in the water. We also learnt a safety entrance for if you go in the deep water. You have to stand up near the edge, toes on the edge, then you make a big step foward and fall into the water, when you go into the water you bend your knees when you touch the groud and don't point your toes or it will hurt. After thatw e learnt a safe entry for going into the river, so like moving water. We had to slide into the water with you hands on the edge slowly and keep our hands on the edge because the river is moving you will go a different direction. Then we had to stand on the platform and put our hands at the back of our ears and swim just kicking our feet with no hands and our face in the water. Then we had to do twice. We did the same thing but facing upwards with no arms too. We did it twice. After that we had to leave so we high fived our instructor. His name was Camren.

Kiwi can

LI: To make a goal you want to achieve
This week LS1 Group A went to Kiwi Can with Miss Lily and Mr Matt. We first had a quick warm up. We had to act out what we wee doing in the holdays and Miss Lily and Mr Matt has to try figure it out. The winner was Diana. What she did in the holidays was go to Ranginui. After that we jumped straight into our enigizer. So this included teamwork and leadership. We had to be very silent but we had to go in order of our months we were born in. We had to do this very silenty, no talking and no whispering. We had to figure out how we could do that. We used our hands. So if you were born in January you put up 1 finger. If you were born in september you put 9 fingers up. Then we did our ages, then tallest to shortest. After that Mr  Matt and Miss Lily told us what our theme and topic was. Drum roll........................... Resilience and Goal setting. Resilience is bouncing back and coping with your challenges. Goal setting is like making something so you can achieve it by studying or learning. Then the game we played was our activity. It was called Up or down. So Mr Matt numbered us either 1 or 2. There were two groups. Team 1 & Team 2. We had to land the hula hoops on the cones. One cones was 50 points, the next cone was 100 points, the very last, it was the hardest it was 150 points. Our goal was to get up to 500 points or closest to 500 wins. Sadly team 1 lost and team 2 won 250 to 350. My team only needed the 150 to win. After that we talked about what are some goals we want to achieve in life. It might be finishing your work, or becoming a professional sports player. We had another kiwi can leader watching our session. 

Duffy Theatre | Bullying

This week Monday LS1 went to a performance from Duffy and his crew. We had got to meet them. They told us some rules and we listened. If we were very loud they will put their fingers at their mouths and say "Shh!". The performance started, we all watched in curiosity of what was going to happen next. The theme of the act was bullying. Duffy's friend Ashleigh has been bullying Melanie. Ashleigh always be mean to Melanie and steals her lunch, but Duffy doesn't know about it. Ashleigh kept on bullying Melanie until Duffy found out. Duffy used 4 things to see if Ashleigh was the Cloakroom bully. When it was lunch time Ashleigh came to play soccer with Duffy but Melanie was with him. Ashleigh was like "Get lost Melanie does it look like we wanna be your friend" when she saw her. Then Duffy stood up for Melanie and told Ashleigh to stop bullying her because it will hurt her feelings. Then Duffy said he isn't coming to soccer training. Then Ashleigh said she was gonna tell coach on him , this is what he said " You tell coach and I will tell him why". Then Ashleigh stopped bullying Melanie from a book that Duffy gave to Melanie called The Halloween bully. It was about a skeleton named Wyatt and a Ghost. The ghost kept on taking Wyatt's lunch and bully's her by saying mean things about how she it skinny and Boney. Then The ghost found that she was making Wyatt sad so she said sorry for the things she said and also because she was very mean to everyone they didn't want to go to the disco party with her. Then the ghost and Wyatt became friends and went to the disco party together. Melanie gave the book to Ashleigh and then she found that she was the like the ghost and Melanie was Wyatt so by her inspiration from the book she apoligized and Ashleigh, Duffy, and Melanie became best friends because ashleigh was acting kind to melanie and invited her to play soccer.

Pokeno Ice Cream

Today we went to Pokeno to get ice cream and have a little bit of food. We went there after seeing our dad. We were hungry so we went Pokeno. Pokeno is a famous ice cream shop that sells a lot of ice cream scoops of whatever flavor, it has a lot of customers going there.  We got ice cream with fish and chips, lasagna. We also got Lime and lemon, with goody gum drops ice cream. We First had got our ice creams. My sister chose Dutch chocolate and my younger sister chose Lime and lemon, with goody gum drops. Me and my mum didn't get ice cream we bought food. I got a brownie and my mum had fish and chips. My younger sister couldn't finish her ice cream so I ate it. After that we went back home to get ready to sleep for school. 

Sleepover!

t our cousin's house. When we got there it was late and we were wearing our P.Js. We had some delicious chocolate cake our aunty made. After That we watched our cousin's play Fortnite on the PS4. After playing fortnite they let me have a turn to play a game. I chose Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3. My cousin's were very good at playing it so we then played TEKKEN 7. It was kind of like  Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, but you only choose one player. My favorite characters were, Lucky Chloe, Akumaa, Alisa, and Eddy. There were rage combo's for each character. I had to get used to the buttons on the controller. After that we had to go sleep. The next day we woke up and had milo and bread then played Tekken 7 again and then we helped our parents make a big lunch. When the food was ready some of our family came over. We played with our cousins and had karaoke using the karaoke player. The food was sweet and sour, fish and chips, Chocolate cake, potato salad, crab salad, and chop suey.

Going To H&M!

Yesterday I went to H&M with My mum and sisters. We went there for the sale. Since it was getting cold when my mum goes work she got told about the 7$ sale at H&M. The 7$ sale was for scarfs. We bought a lot of scarfs. We even saw some warm headbands for 3$. In the store they had an escalator and elevator. I went up the elevator to go up to the Kid's  clothing area. It has a lot of mirrors even in the elevator there is a mirror and it is clear so you can see were you are going up the elevator. H&M had a lot of customers. H&M is very big it has a clothing area for Men, Ladies, and also Kids. We didn't Just buy scarfs we also bought jackets. There was a very long line if you go to the fitting room and also if you want to buy clothing. There was also these little cup bottles for children and umbrellas with unicorns on them. H&M doesn't just have clothes it has phone cases, accessories, etc.

QUIZ!


LI: To learn about the different body systems. 
We had to do a quiz with our inquiry group this is all the information. This term LS1 got ready for the big quiz at the end of the term. We did all these tasks and earnt all these credits in our groups. We had to get the credits by doing tasks based on what organ system we are doing. The topic was about organ systems in our bodies. We first learnt the nervous system. The nervous system is a system that makes up of different organs and parts. They are the nerves, neurons, Central nervous system, Peripheral Nervous system, brain, brainstem, spinal cord, autonomic and somatic. The Central nervous system and the Peripheral Nervous system have different parts. Another way to say them is CNS and PNS. CNS include the brain, brainstem, and spinal cord. The peripheral includes the nerves autonomic and somatic. After the nervous system was the digestive. This was my favourite part. This includes the Mouth, esophagus, stomach, liver, gallbladder, pancreas, small intestine, large intestine, appendix, rectum, and the anus. It includes what you eat. This system helps you gain nutrients. These all make up the Digestive system.  The respiratory system includes the lungs, Trachea, Bronchi, Bronchioles, Alveoli. This is the system that helps your body and body organs have oxygen. Then the Circulatory system the heart pumps blood through blood vessels arteries. Heart is the only organ in circulatory system. Arteries take blood away from heart,veins bring blood to the heart.capillaries are  very tiny after arteries they go everywhere in body thats where muscles get oxygen and nutrients organs pass carbon dioxide through capillaries. There are 4 main vessel of the heart they are,SVC (Superior vena cava), Pulmonary Artery,Pulmonary vein & Aorta. Main artery coming out heart is the aorta.

Matariki celebration

This week PBS school had a  Matariki celebration. Their was perfomances. First Whaia Ode did a karakia, prayer. Then the kapa haka group did their performance. They did it with the poi's nad the sticks. Their performance was great.  After that was the drummers. That was Mr Matt our kiwi can teacher, Andrew, Jona, Junior and Mataio. They were very good. Then there was the ukelele group that was Florenc, Avalon, and Angela. They wer awesome!After that was the junior kapahaka. They did the Matariki Macarena. After that was the pacifica group. I was in it. We  had to mobe our hips and do actions. After that Mr Johnston told us that whaia Ode fundraised us with free sausage sizzles. Then Whaia Ode did a karakia and we had our sausage sizzle.


ASB Getwise Session

LI: To learn how to save money.

Jayden from ASB get wise came to our school to teach us about saving money. He came to talk to us about CASH goals. He taught that if you want to buy something make it realistic for you age. For example, if you want to by a car when your yr 4-5 you should keep it realistic so by something you can actually get. We learnt that if you want to by something you have to be clear, if you want to buy some shoes you need to keep it clear, what size, what colour, the price, and more. Keeping it clear is like making sure you get what you really want. To do that you have to take action. Get a job for yr 4-5. You could sell stuff like your old clothes or stuff you don't own like making pies, food and selling more, you could also do neighbourhood jobs like help cleaning the gardens.   When you get the money you need you save for the future to get more money by taking action. When you save you have to know how long it will take until you reach your goal to buy those shoes. So if you get 10 a week and you spend no money and your shoes are 100 dollars it will be 10 weeks until you have reached your goal. That is CASH goals.

Matariki




Today LS1 and LS2 worked together collaboratively to find out some information about Matariki. We used our researching skills to find out some information. We watched a video together about matariki and listed down some facts. After watching the video we created a DLO about matariki. We were all sharing our ideas and facts. We all learnt some new facts about matariki. I found out that Matariki is a Maori new years and that Matariki is the mother of the sisters.

This week Mr Ogilvies Maths groups had to find out the percentages
from fractions. We used chocolate bars and M&M’s. We had to make a graph about M&M’s.
We had to Partner up with someone and do this, I worked with Nicole.
We had to get a M&m packet for our pair. We had to put the colors of the
M&M’s in place. We had to collect the data. We used a DLO to record our data.
We did a pie graph and a bar graph.
