Kiwi Can | Puzzle

LI: To complete challenges and understand what is a challenge.

This week for Kiwi Can our theme was Resilience and our topic was dealing with challenges. We first had our greeting. Our greeting was " Malo E Lelei " for Tongan language week. Our catchphrase for the week was " Kiwi can says, When your dealing with challenges, Don't go over it, don't go under it but go through it and just do it!"

Energiser!
For our energiser this week we played a game called Commands. We all had to stand in a circle and Mrs Mack with say 6 commands that we have to follow. If she says one command and we do a different command then we are eliminated.

Then we had a discussion about how challenging that was .

Activity!
For our activity we had to go into groups of 3 and try and solve a puzzle using a piece of paper and a pen. We had to use different shapes to create one whole shape. This challenge was definitely difficult because we didn't know where all the pieces went. At the end we all found out the answer and realized that if we thought outside the box than we would accomplished it.

Bonus Challenges!
At the end of Kiwi Can Mrs Mack gave our teacher an Idea to give us a challenge. The challenges was to do the exact same puzzle we had done for our activity and give instructions. If you would like to do this challenge than make a copy of this link - Puzzle DLO

Kiwi Can

LI: To learn how to self control and cope with challenges.

This week we have been continuing with Self control and Self discipline in Kiwi Can. Self control is also like control your emotions and Self Discipline is like choosing the right choices for yourself.

The Four Challenges!
So for our activity we had split into 4 groups of 4-6. For this activity there were four challenges that we had to work in a team with to accomplish in 1m.

One of the challenges were, Fitness. For the fitness activity we had to do 5x Push ups, 5x Sit ups, 5x Squats, 5x Bur pees. If we finish one round of that before 1m is over than we need to try do another round. In my group we did 1 round and a half. In this challenge I felt pressured to try and do 2 rounds before 1 minute was over.

Another challenge was sorting Maori words and English words. For this challenge we had to try and sort out the Maori colours and pair it with the English meaning, for my group we had finished 6 colours. I think this was the second hardest because we never really knew the Maori colours that well.

For this challenge we had to try recreate the Kiwi Can catchphrase with our own actions. The Kiwi Can catchphrase was " Kiwi Can says! Control yourself, Don't Shout, Over and out!". It was hard trying to recreate it because some of us had ideas and other people didn't and we didn't know what action to do so we just chose the actions made by some of our team members.

The last challenge we had to do was writing the alphabet backwards. In my opinion this was the hardest out of them all because we had to start from Z and we always had to sing the alphabet song. We had only got up to the letter T.

After our session our score was 44 out of 50. We need to work on Respect and Positive Additude next week. After that we walked back to LS1.

Kiwi Can | Resilience

LI: To learn how to self control and self discipline in different situation.

Over the past weeks we had been learning about understanding emotions. Now we have a new topic, our new topic was Self Control and Self Discipline. Mrs Mack and Miss Paige were on releave so Mr Latu was our Kiwi Can leader.

Heads, Shoulders, Knees and Toes!

For our enigiser we played heads, shoulders, knees and toes. We had to find a partner in the room and get one cone per partner. We had to squat, then Mr Latu will say " Heads.. ( Then we touch our heads) Shoulders... ( We touch our shoulders) Knees.... ( We touch our knees) Then when Mr latu says toes we have to try snatch the cone as quickly as possible. The winner of the round was Afatia.

Acting Scenario's:

With the acting scenarios we had split into four groups of 6-7. In my group was Charlize, Afatia, Hosea, Sione and Andrew. We had got a card that had a scenario for us to act. After that we had to act our the scene. Our scene was about two friends arguing about something that happened in the weekends, and how they could self control/discipline. We made it out that  one of the friends stole something form the shop when the one friend said no, then they argued and the friend returned the item that was stolen.

Kiwi Can | Resilience

LI: To understand other peoples emotions.

This week for Kiwi Can our topic was understanding emotions and our theme is Reslisience. We talked about how we can understand someones emotions and knowing what emotions they could be feeling.

For our enegiser we had done an activity based on the level of intensity of the emotion. Mrs mack had given out cards that had different emotions on them and we had to find other people with a card with the same type of emotion as us. They weren't all the same we had to try find different emotions that mean the same thing as our emotion. Then in our groups we had to lay out the cards and place them in the level on intensity.

For our activity we had split into different groups. We had gotten a card that had a role of what we had to act. When we were doing the act the other people had to try figure the emotons we were feeling.

Kiwi Can | Perserverance | Relisilience

LI: To be perserverance and show resilience among other people. This week we had our last teaching session with Kiwi Can Mr Matt and Miss Lily.

What is Perserverance?
It when you never give up and don't give up. Also to be patient and to not be frustrated to other people or by somethings. Perserverance is apart of being resilient.
What is Resilience?
Resilience is bounicng back and coping with your challenges so never giving up and keep on trying over and over again.

We had to try be perserverance and resilient during our enigiser and activity.

Our enigiser was called tangled. Our Kiwi Can leaders pick a tagger and the tagger had to try tag people. When the tagger tags you then you guys have to link up and hold hands and try tag other people. You can't tag someone without being linked.

When you get tagged and link up some people were getting frustrated because some reason.

Our activity was called Invisible touch. Invisible touch is when you split into two groups of people and the leaders have to say a number of people who goes. They choose a person who has the ball and the person with the ball has to get it to the other end but if they get touched by someone from the other team the person who tags them has the ball then they have to try go and run to the goal.

We had to try not be frustrated.

Kiwi Can | Problem Solving | Resilience

LI: To learn about problem solving and resilience.

This week for Kiwi Can we were talking about problem solving. First we went straight into our enigiser. Our enigiser was called human knot. Ms Lily had got us into groups of 5,6, or 7. We had to get into a circle and hold hands with someone across from us in the circle with our right hand then with our left hand with someone else. It was a knot. We had to try solve it by untangling our selves. After that we had our activity. Our activity was called Mat Dodge. Ms Lily numbered us 1-5. If Ms Lily says your number "my number was 4" then all the fours go in the middle and the people surrounding them with the bal has to try hit them out. The winner was akuhata. After that we had a quick game of GKQ. When we go to Kiwi Can we have to respect the leaders and listen to what they are saying by not playing with anything in your hand.

Kiwican

This week LS1 group went to have their third session of kiwi can term 3 week 3. We first talked about our topic "goal setting". Goal setting is when you make something to achieve in the future. We have goals to make ourselves feel proud and want to make another goal. We could influence other people younger or older than us to make a goal. Our catchphrase was "Kiwi can says, Never give up, achieve your goal, make a plan, because you can". Our enigiser of the day was cal snatch. We make a circle, Mr latu will put the long rope creating a circle. There were cones in the middle of the circle and Mrs Lily will put music on and we have to dance clockwise around the circle and when the music stops we need to go and snatch a cone in the middle. Our goal for our enigiser was to get a cone in the circle. The winner was Alizai. We can celebrate achieving our goals by people celebrating a party for you or just a high five. Next was our Activity. Our activity was called Octopus. There was an octopus in the middle of the room surrounding themselves in a hulahoop. To tag other people they had to use two pool noodles to tag them. If you get tagged you are stuck and you can tag other people who aren't stuck to get stuck. The girls were on one side and the boys we on the opposite side. The girls had to get to the opposite side same as the boys. Our goal for our activity was to get tp the other side without getting tagged by the octopus. Mr Matt will say we have to crawl to the other side or hop on one leg. The rules were that we can't run. The winner was Alizai. After that we had a quick game of GKQ then we ended our session by saying our catchphrase.

We sat in 4 lines. We talked about what is goal setting. Then we talked about how we show resilience. Our enigizer was tag snatch. We had to get a tag from Mr Matt and put it in our pockets but don't put it right in your pocket because if we do then that is cheating. The winner was Alizai. Then we went into a circle and talked about what what our goals were in the circle. We then talked about how can we achieve our goals. After that we had our Activity. Our activity was called ball trouble. We had to get into pairs boy and girl. We had to set a goal. Then we had been put in two teams with our pair. We had to try get the ball from one end to another. We had to do this in our pair but without using our hands. We had to put it on our backs.  Before you want to achieve your goal you have to make a plan.

Kiwi can

LI: To make a goal you want to achieve
This week LS1 Group A went to Kiwi Can with Miss Lily and Mr Matt. We first had a quick warm up. We had to act out what we wee doing in the holdays and Miss Lily and Mr Matt has to try figure it out. The winner was Diana. What she did in the holidays was go to Ranginui. After that we jumped straight into our enigizer. So this included teamwork and leadership. We had to be very silent but we had to go in order of our months we were born in. We had to do this very silenty, no talking and no whispering. We had to figure out how we could do that. We used our hands. So if you were born in January you put up 1 finger. If you were born in september you put 9 fingers up. Then we did our ages, then tallest to shortest. After that Mr  Matt and Miss Lily told us what our theme and topic was. Drum roll........................... Resilience and Goal setting. Resilience is bouncing back and coping with your challenges. Goal setting is like making something so you can achieve it by studying or learning. Then the game we played was our activity. It was called Up or down. So Mr Matt numbered us either 1 or 2. There were two groups. Team 1 & Team 2. We had to land the hula hoops on the cones. One cones was 50 points, the next cone was 100 points, the very last, it was the hardest it was 150 points. Our goal was to get up to 500 points or closest to 500 wins. Sadly team 1 lost and team 2 won 250 to 350. My team only needed the 150 to win. After that we talked about what are some goals we want to achieve in life. It might be finishing your work, or becoming a professional sports player. We had another kiwi can leader watching our session.
