Today I have completed the second activity for day 5. For this activity we had to create a remake story about Yursa Mardini. Here is my remake story:
Yursa Mardini is a 21 year old girl. At the age of 18 her and her sister were travelling to Europe ( this was when the Syrian war was on to find safety, they were refugees) . They departed from Lebanon to Turkey before departing to Greece, 15 minutes crossing in sea the boat's engine failed and Yursa, her sister and another person swam 3 and a half hours saving about 20 people before the boat capsized.
About a year later Yursa's swimming skills, courage and determination were attracted by the International Olympic Commitee. Yursa Mardini became the a member of the first ever Refugee Olympic Team.
Yursa continues to concentrate on her professional swimming career in Germany Berlin.

Hi Fau, this is Mrs Collins from Manaiakalani and I'll be commenting on blogs over term break. Well done on posting and participating in the SLJ this year. I really like the narrative you shared about Yusra. What did you learn that inspired you? Keep blogging, and commenting on others, to increase your chance of winning one of the awesome prizes and to keep up your learning over the school break!
ReplyDeleteMalo e lelei Fau!,
ReplyDeleteGreat work on participating in the Summer Learning Journey activities. Reading your story about Yusra Mardini was very interesting and enjoyable. You have a really detailed summary which is great. Yusra Mardini is an amazing person who save 20 people. Would you like to have a swimming career, like Yusra Mardini?
Keep It Up!
Hello Fau
ReplyDeleteThis is a most interesting posting. I did not know about this person at all. Well done. You are off to a very positive start with your Learning Journey. I hope that you keep going.
Hello Fau! This was a well-written summary, and very interesting. You seem to have learnt a lot about Yursa and her story. It's amazing what she did, I can see why she is an icon to some people. I love the fact she used her skill to save 20 passenger, and continues her career as a great swimmer. Great work!
ReplyDeleteHi Fau!

Blog you later!

Hi Fau,
ReplyDeleteI liked how you said that Yusra's swimming skills, determination and courage were seen by the Olympic Committee and she was invited to the first Refugee Team. Do you think you could've done the same thing she did?
