Giant Panda Research

LI: to use our smart researching skills to find out about the giant panda.

Our activity for today was researching about Giant pandas.  We created paragraphs to inform interesting facts and things about giant pandas. In our task we had to write down information about pandas on a note sheet. After writing down our information we wrote down paragraphs. The paragraphs was basically used to sum up our information that we wrote down on our note sheet. After writing everything down we created a DLO which had all the information about Giant pandas.  We found this activity interesting and also gave us the opportunity to find out more about Giant Pandas and how they survive in the wilderly.  One interesting fact I learnt about Giant pandas is that they consume around 44lb (20kgs) of bamboo.

Fitness Challenge

LI: To create a fitness challenge that can help challenge yourself and also others.

This week LS2 has been given a challenge to create our own fitness challenge for ourselves and others. I decided to do a short excercise. In my challenge it consists of 3 easy excercises, Squats, Jumping Jacks and Push Ups. In the DLO's above, one DLO shows the goal of the excercises and the other DLO is a video demonstrating how to do the excercise. The part of the first DLO that says 'click me' leads to the second DLO with the demonstration.

Daily Maths Challenge 2

LI: To find the most efficient strategy to help you solve the maths problem.

Today I have completed another daily maths challenge. This was the second maths challenge. For this maths challenge the problem was based on a boy name Hemi who was preparing a hangi for a fundraiser for a kapa haka group. They were trying to figure out how many food items would fit in the hangi. On the last 3 slides I have explained my strategy and showcased my problem solving. I had a use of multiplication and addition to solve the questions.

Art | Earth

LI: To create a picture thinking outside the box.

Today I have completed the Art task. For this art task we had to creat something out of a small shape, we could draw it digitally or on a piece of paper. I chose to draw my art on a google draw. This task was trying to think outside the box. As I was looking at the piece I thought it'll make a good piece of landscape as Earth so the art I created was based on Earth.

Photo Montage | 1870s

LI: To show what life was like for Men, Women and children in, NZ, in the 1870s.

This week Sulia and I have completed another task part from our learning. For this task we were talking about the life in the 1870s. One of the activities was to create a photo montage of what life was like for Men, Women and Children in the 1870s in NZ. Using our smart researching skills, me and Sulia found 9 images showcasing life in the 1870s. This was a really fun activity, the thng I found the most interesting was looking at life in 1870s and seeing the comparismn in 2020, a lot has changed.

Haiku | Challenge 1

LI: To create your own Haiky poem usng the following topics: rain, mountains, trees, ocean, summer, winter, and sun.

Today I have completed another poetry challenge. I worked independantly for this challenge. For this challenge I created 3 of my own haiku poems. The topics I chose was Rain, Summer and Winter. A haiku poem is a tradition Japanese poem that consists 17 syllables and 3 lines. The first line includes 5 syllables, the second line includes 7 syllables and the third line includes 5 syllables again. To help me understand how to create a haiku I used my past knowledge in creating a haiku. In the DLO below it shows my haiku poems I have created.

Extra Research | What is a Haiku Poem?

LI: to create a DLO about what a haiku poem is.

Today Liletina and I completed one of the weekly tasks set out for us. For this task we created a DLO about what a haiku poem is. A haiku poem is a traditional Japanese poem, it consists a count of 17 syllables. The first line is 5 syllables, the second line is 7 syllables and the third line is 5 syllables again. Using our smart researching skills we found out that haiku in Japanese is spelt like this
俳句" . Haiku poems weren't always called haiku, the previous name was hokku. Me and Liletina worked together fantastically.

Billie Eilish | Favorite Singer/Rapper

LI: To create a DLO about your favorite singer/rapper.

Today Sulia and I have completed another activity. For this activity we had to create a DLO about our favorite singer or rapper, this was a pretty hard decision as we both have a variety of singers we like, but at some point we chose Billie Eilish. Billie Eilish is an 18 yr old american singer/songwriter. Me and Sulia really like her music she makes and especially her. She is one of the people we are inspired by. There were three main points in the presentation - Who is Billie Eilish, Biography of Billie Eilish and Billie Eilishes Music Career. This was a fun and interesting activity.

Antonio Vivaldi | Composers

LI: research 1 of the great composers so that you can teach us about him and the music he made.

Today I have completed creating a DLO about one of the great composers, the composer I chose was Antonio Vivaldi. The type of music he created was Baroque in the 1600 - 1750. Antonio Vivaldi's music was one of the inspirations of the music we hear now, since its a new generation modern technology has become a big part of the world and the music styles has changed or increased. One fact I found interesting about Antonio Vivaldi was that his father was a proffesional violinist too who taught Vivaldi when he was young. I completed this activity independantly.

Hallenstein Bros | ANZAC Task

LI: To create your own task by using one of these artifacts as your topic - Walking with ANZAC

Today Sulia and I have completed another ANZAC task. We chose to create our own task by using an artifact on a site thatw was going to be our topic. The artifact we chose and story was the Hallenstein Brothers and Harold Hallenstein Fels. The Hellenstein Brothers is a bussiness selling clothing, footwear, accessories and more. They have been running for about 147 years. The main person we were talking about was Harold Hallenstein Fels, he served as a soldier in the war. Since his father was the managing director at the time of the Hallenstein Bros, he was determined to support his son in any way possible. One of those ways was making uniforms for the army.

The Maori Pioneer Battalion | Reading

LI: To create a DLO showing your perspective whether you agree or disagree about remembering the Maori Pioneer Battalion.

For this DLO I had worked independantly to complete this. On this DLO is shows my opionon/perspective on the Maori Pioneer Battalion, and whether we should remember them or not and why. The Maori Pioneer Battalion were a group of native Maori's who served in the first world war ( WW1). They had left their families in New Zealand to go off and fight in the war, not every Maori man agreed but most did. Some men disagreed on fighting beside the Pakeha as they have attacked their tipuna and taken land but the men who did join the war create positive relationships with the Pakeha and they fought side by side proudly. My answer to the question was a yes, I think we should remember the Maori Pioneer Battalion as they fought hard and were very brave and courageous for knowing that their is a risk that they won't return home.

Enrolling Poster | ANZC task

LI: To create a joining poster as if you were asking the Maori men to join the Maori contingent.

Today Sulia and I have completed another ANZAC task. For this task we used some of our information from our Maori Pioneer Battalion task into this DLO. This DLO was trying to persuade the native Maori's to join the Amred Services for the Maori contingent. Some iwi (tribes) did not want to join the Maori contingent as it meant fighting beside the Pakeha, who have taken land from those iwi. Hundreds of men from the Waikato tribe had gotten arrested for refusing millitary training. In this poster we had to show something that the Maori men would relate to and want to join the Maori contingent.

Poppy Animation | ANZAC Task

LI: To create an animation of the growth of a poppy.

For this activity me, Sulia, and Chris worked together to create an animation of the growth of a poppy. Since ANZAC is coming up Mrs Anderson has created some tasks for us to complete relating to ANZAC. We had got the chance to choose at least 3 activities, and we chose this one. It took a lot of time and effort to complete this but we managed to finish. To help us find out how a poppy grows and the time span of its growth.
