Rippa Rugby | Yr 5-6 | Auckland Rugby

This week we had our Rugby interschool. We had it at Collin Maiden Park. I was in the yr 5-6 rippa team. First we had all been playing aruond with the balls doing kicks passes and playing touch, rugby or held. First we versed Bailey Rd. It was a good game. The person who scored for our first game was Nicole. We had tied 2-2. At the end of the game we all said our cheer " 3 cheers for Bailey road, Hooray! Hooray! One for the ref Hooray! One for us yeeyah! One for the Lord Amen!". Then we had a 10 minute break. We had a small morning tea then went back on the field. We versed Sylvia Park. It was a very tight game. We had almost tied. We won 4-3. Then we had a bye. We had our lunch went over and watched our barbarians play rugby then we went across the orad to watch the Yr 7-8 rugby. Then we had people teach us skills of rugby. First all the we had to learn was a scrum. We had to pair up with people and do the form of a scrum. We had to then paur up in our 3 with another 3 and make a bigger scrum. Then we had to do a line out. Three people on one side then 3 people on the other, they had to try get the ball. There was a thrower that throws the ball in the middle of the line out if the thrower said Long then they throw all the way to the back if they say short then they throw in front. Then we moved next to passing. We learnt how to pass like the all black pass but when you pass aim with your hands so put it up and aim at the person you are passing to. Then we learnt how to tackle safly. We had to just tap their waist with both hands. Then we had to learn how to tackle safely. You have to put your hand around their waist and put your ear at their hip and put them on the ground safely.

Then we all headed back to the bus and went to school.
