Activity 1: Hairy Maclary - Day 4: Perms and Lycra (The 1980’s) - Week 3

One of the most famous children’s stories to ever come out of New Zealand, Hairy Maclary from Donaldson’s Dairy, was written by a kiwi woman named Lynley Dodd. The book was originally published in 1983. It is now sold in dozens of countries around the world. It features a small dog named Hairy.

Out of the gate and off for a walk went Hairy Maclary from Donaldson’s Dairy. Walking through the park where he met Jones she was a lizard, she needed to find her way home. "Oh Hi Hairy Mclary could you please help me find my way home?' said Jones. Of course barked Hairy Mclary. So off they went through the path way to find Jones house. Actually Jones forgot what her street name was called! 'Was it Cones Street or Zonas Street?'' said Jones. Jones owners made Jones name rythme with the street they Lived on. So they had to find which street rythmed with Jones name. It was Cones Street, so they went down Cones Street. Jones remembered which Number she lived on. It was House 7. After saying goodbyes to Jones Hairy Mclary from Donaldson's Dairy walked back Home.
