Polynesian Panthers | Evaluating

LI: To read the information in the text, think about what you have read and form an opinion. 

This week the Kakapo reading group read another story, called "Rise up: THE STORY OF THE DAWN RAIDS AND THE POLYNESIAN PANTHERS". This story talked about an old New Zealand protest for the rights of the polynesian people. In this DLO we all formed an opinion about the dawn raids and the polynesian panthers. In the 1970s polynesian people were sent to NZ to do factory work. As the years came  by the recent Prime Minister Robert Muldoon sent officers to do random check ups to see if some polynesian people are overstayers. In the DLO it shows our opinion and thoughts on the dawn raids and the polynesian panthers. 

Blog Analysis | 2017-2020

LI: To analyse our blog post data to help us set blogging goals. 

This week I used statistical information to help me set goals for 2020. In the DLO its shows the amount of blog posts I have posted each year ever since 2017 til now (2020). As I have grown more confidence in my blogging level I have posted more and more blog posts each year. The goal I have created was to get 1000 blog posts at the end of the year. To do that I have to post 6.27 blogposts a week. I am positive that I will reach my goal. 

Enter a Competition | Attitude

In term one week 9 a group of students form Panmure Bridge School went to Colin Maiden Park to participate in the cricket interschools competition. I was apart of the girls yr 7-8 team. 

When we got there we started practising to get ready for the games, not too long after the horn blew and we started our games. 

The first team we played against was Stonefields 1. It was a tough game against them but we unfortunately lost.

The second team we played against was Tamaki Primary. We all tried our best but sadly Tamaki lost. 

The third team we played against was Stan Hope. Stan Hope girls were very good at batting, which led them to win.

The fourth team we played against was Stonefeilds 2. In this game our team did extremly well and a batting pair got 32 scores alone, which is exceedingly good. The majority of the balls rolled out of the boundries giving us 4 points each. We also got 2 boundries on the full which gave us 6 points each, which led us to win the round.

The final team we played against was Glenbrae. We did well, but Glenbrae ended up winning the round.

In the end our team ended up coming 3rd from our pool, at the of the day we all enjoyed ourselves and had a good time. 

I have completed another activity for my attitude badge. For this activity I had to represent PBS in a competition. The competition I chose was the Cricket Interschools. 

Food Technology | Mrs Heka | Salad

LI: To create a chicken salad. 

Today the Yr 7 students of Panmure Bridge School had their 3rd tech session of the term. For this tech session we created a chicken salad. Since it is a cold weather we created a warm salad. In our salad we included: 

Rice

Red Cabbage

Carrots

Onion

Curry Powder

Sweet Corn + Beans

Chicken Breasts 

Oil

Since there was 3 people in our kitchen we all had a task to do. I grated and peeled the carrot, diced the onions and cut the red cabbage. Juel measured our wet ingredients while heavenly cut the chicken breasts into slices of our choice (not too big). After we prepared our ingredients we added the ingredients together one by one. After adding the ingredients together our food was ready. 

Wahine Disaster

LI: To create a DLO showcasing the wahine disaster.

This week the Kakapo's have read a story called "Escape from the Wahine". This book is about a boy named Ryan who interviews his family members for a school project. He interviewed his Grandfather. His grandfather was one the many lucky people who survived the Wahine Disaster in 1964. Sakshi, Giovanni and I all worked collaboratively to create a DLO telling the story of the Wahine Disaster. 

 

Be a Duffy | Confidence

Last week I was a school duffy. I felt really confident and proud to be duffy. The book I chose to showcase was called " Danny the champion of the world". Danny is a 12 yr old boy who thinks his father is a marvellous person, but little does he know his father has a secret that he's hiding from danny. As danny becomes more and more suspicious he finally finds our the truth. 

I have completed one of my confidence activities. As I am duffy I showcase confidence to people and especially towards the younger junior students. The junior students really look up to the senior students so we have to show confidence and responsibilty to our learning. 

Lead a school Assembly | Confidence

LI: To lead a school assembly.

In week 6 of term 1, Ong and I lead our school assembly. We were both so nervous but we felt confident. Ong and I both practised our scripts over and over again so we could boost our confidence level. As we read our scripts out loud we thought in our heads, we can do this! Showing confidence while leading our school assembly meant the junior students could look up to us and be confident in what they do aswell. I was excited while I was reading the script as it was my first time reading something in front of the whole of Pamnure Bridge School. At the end of the day, I felt like I did a great job.
