Today we had a special visitor, he was the Minstrel. He had come with his wife, Mrs Minstrel. Mrs Minstrel was the Minstrel's assistant. They came to talk about saving fish and ourselves in the sea.
Legal Fish Size
When you catch a fish, fisherman always need to bring a special ruler that they use to measure the fish. On the ruler there is different types of fish breed that when you catch that breed you measure it to see if it is fully grown. If not then you need to gently put it back into the water because it is a baby fish, to let it grow older ( then you can come back next time and eat it ). If you go fishing and you catch a very big fish then you need to also put it back in the water, because the big fish is either a Mummy Fish or a Daddy fish and they are breeding fish. So you need to wait until they lay eggs to catch them, because if you take home a big fish that is breeding fish the baby fish in the eggs will not be able to make more fish.
Plastic in the Ocean
When you go fishing in the sea and you see plastic wrappers or packets it is vital that you pick it up because it harms the sea life and other living creatures, especially the birds who eat fish. Specific breeds of birds are almost gone by tragic deaths of plastic. When the birds are out flying they look for fish to eat, and when they see plastic rubbish in the ocean they think that it is fish and they swoop down and eat it and it makes the birds die easily.
Life Jackets Safety
If your Dad, Uncle, or Grandad go fishing in the sea or anywhere, it is extremely vital to wear a Life Jacket. There has been serious accidents that have happened when people have drowned and died because of not wearing a Life Jacket. Life Jackets can save your life in different situations.
