Bumblebees can fly very quickly. They can reach ground speeds of 90 kilometres per hour (km/h)
Bumblebees are very strong! They carry up to 50 percent of their body weight in food with them to avoid starvation.
Bumblebees can do more work and carry more pollen than other bees, including honeybees. In fact, they can do up to 54 times as much work as a normal honeybee.
The number of bumblebees is declining in New Zealand due to a number of factors, including the removal of wildflowers and flowering trees, habitat loss, and extensive use of pesticides.
Hello Fau! Great job on putting the answers in the correct places. Good idea to make the answer of where it was blank, in bold so others might be able to understand. I think people would get a better understanding though if you included a blurb to put that in as well as explaining what you had to do for the activity. Keep that in mind for the next one, keep it up!
ReplyDeleteHey Fau!
ReplyDeleteI like your blog post about you solving the bumble bee quiz. A fun fact about me is that i hate bees because on the last day of school (2018) I got stung by a bee during our water fight.Have you gotten stung by a bee before?
Keep it up! - Florence
Hi Fau,
ReplyDeleteIts great to see you complete most of the activities. It's good seeing you fill in the blanks. I don't know if I got the same answer as you, but it's okay. Have you ever seen a whole pack of bees running after someone?
Keep Up The Good Work!
Greetings Fau,
ReplyDeleteI have decided to comment on your blog again! You have being doing a great job in the summer learning journey and I hope it continues. I don't like bees because they sting and it hurts.
Keep it up Fau!

Hey Fau,
ReplyDeleteYou've done a superb job on filling in the blanks for each of these unbee-lievable facts about bumblebees! Yes, you're absolutely correct, the word bumble means to hum, buzz or drone. Bumblebees are so small, it's hard to believe that they can fly as fast as 54 km/hr. That's much faster than the fastest man can run on earth!
These bees are incredibly strong to be able to carry up to 90% of their body weight in food so that they don't get hungry. Imagine if we had to carry bags and bags of food on our backs every single day, we would probably be too exhausted to even eat (I'd bring bags and bags of chocolate and other yummy snacks though)!
Best,
Evelyn :)
