Statistics

LI: to learn something about the class or school using statistics.

This week for maths we had been talking about Statistics. Statistics is Analysing gathered information. We had to create a presentation about Statistics. We had to use our Question from two weeks ago. We had created a graph with our data and interpeted the graph. We had to present our presentation in front of the whole group and we had gotten scored for the way we had presented.

Statistics | Cleaning Data

LI: to learn something about the class or school using statistics.

This week we had to clean our data from our survey. The survey was about your favorite place to sit and rest in the school. We had to record down the answers and make sure there is no double ups with the people who answered our survey. We had to clean it out by deleting the double ups.

Statistics

LI: to learn about the class or school using statistics
This week we have been learning about statistics.
Statistics is analysing numbers from information gathered to answer questions. We had to use statistics by asnwering a question about the school or the school students. This is the question "  Where is the most popular place to sit and rest?", to find the answer we need to:

    1. How do we find the answer? (Do we look for information, ask people, or count things?)
    2. What do we need to measure? (e.g. jump distance, number of votes, or temperature)
    3. What materials do we need to collect and record data? (e.g. Google doc/spreadsheet/form/map/drawing, questions to ask, pictures to show interviewees etc.)

Data/Graph

LI: To do 6 different graphs with different datas.

This week of Term 1 we were learning about graphs and data.  We had gotten into groups of 5-6. We created graphs that our teachers have recorded down by asking questions. In my group was Charlize, Jay Lee, Angelica, and Hosea.

What is Included in A Graph:

1) Title - Shows what the graoh is about
2) Labels - The labels are on the Horizontal and Vertical Axis, The Vertical axis  is the amount and the horizontal is what the graph is.
3) Data - What we use to make the graph.

How to do Statistics

LI: To teach people how to make a graph.

This week people from Mr Ogilvies had to make activities for other people. We had to go on a google form and choose which topic in maths this week we struggle on the most or need help with. I chose Statistics. Talking with Mr O I found out some cool facts about it. Our Must do was to create an activity fro people to show them how to make a graph.

So there is the labels. The labels show the person the amount of something and the label for the choices. The labels are vital when you are making a graph. The Title is for telling the person about what your graph is about.

The Y-axis and X-axis is the form of making the graph. It looks like an L. The Y axis goes vertical and the X axis goes horizontal. The Y axis starts from the left side and the X axis starts on the bottom of it.
