Commenting

Today I commented on Mojtaba's blog. He was talking about MRS GREN. Him and his group made a video about how MRS GREN works in cats.

Kiwi Can

LI.To learn about accountability and consequences.
Today at Kiwi Can we had to go over on what we have been learning last week,  accountability and consequences. We first played grab the cone. We had to buddy up and try grab the cone first. We played 2 rounds and the Winners were Spelman, Chris and Me. After that we played blind square. We had to get into 4 groups and blindfold one person from our group they had to try get as many balls as possible and bring it back to the hula hoop. One perosn  had to guide the person blindfolded. After that we talked about what is consequences and accountability.

Descriptive writing - Show and Tell

LI. To write a descriptive scene. This week we had to do a show and tell using this dlo. We had to use the 5 senses to show and tell this image. We had to write descriptive writing. This is my tell:Father and his  daughter went to the beach. It was her first time at the beach. It was a hot sunny day. They were walking along the water. The water was warm. She smelt salt. She saw the sand under the water. They had a great time. After that the mother made lunch as they watched the clouds.
This is my Show: Ella felt the waves crash onto her feet like a toy swung and hit her as her and her father walked along the beach. It was her first time at the beach. She could smell the salty vibes from the water. Ella could see the sand under the water clearly.  Her and her father Tom had a great time in the warm glistening water together. The water was a shiny star. After they had lunch with Glenn, Ella’s mother, then watched the clouds fly across the sky.

Story board - Man and sea

LI: To infer information from a text.
This week HV Group had to read a book called man and sea. It was about a boy his brother was getting an offer from his papa. We had to make a storyboard about our inference and evidence. We used a t chart to list all of our inferences and evidence.

Venus fly trap - MRS GREN

LI: to prove that a organism is real by using MRS GREN
This week we picked a organism and had to prove that it was a organism or living. My group the Class Clown Crushers picked the Venus Flytrap to prove. We also had to record what we found out. We had to find out how the Venus Flytrap: Moves, Reproduces, Senses, Grows, Respires, Excretes, and gets Nutrition. We all had to prove all of that. We recorded out video onto Powtoons

Fractions

LI: Fractions decimals and percentages
LI: To understand corresponding fraction, decimals and percentages.

LI: To understand mixed number, improper and equivalent fractions.
This week for maths we had to see how fractions, decimals and percentages link up. We had to do that by using a dlo. We also had to understand mixed number, improper and equivalent fractions alos by using a dlo. The difference between Mixed fraction, improper fraction and mixed number fraction is, Proper fraction is when the numerator is lower than the denominator for example, 4/9 the numerator is lower than the denominator. Improper is when the numerator is higher than the denominator, like 14/4. Mixed number is when the improper fraction like 14/4 it can be called a different way you will need to split it up into 3 wholes 2/4 because there will be 3 wholes and 2/4 left so the answer is 2/4. Fractions have a numerator and a denominator. The numerator is the number of how much it takes up and the denominator is the number of how much it is taking up in. For example ⅔ , the numerator is the top number and the denominator  is the bottom number. The numerator is taking 2 away from the 3 so that is ⅔ . Fractions, Decimals, and percentages all link up by the place value ones, tenths and hundredths.

Maori - String game - Whai - Cat's cradle

This week for maori we played a maori game called whai and Cat's cradle. We learnt hiw to make different things with the string like, Parachute, Tea Cup and saucer, Eifel tower, and the diomands. The diomands are very hard but we all managed. We had been taught by Whaia Ode and learning from other people who know how to do it.We all learnt how to either one of those with the strings.  Here is an image of me doing the 2 diomands.
Here is some other people doing the Eifel tower
Here is the parachute

Here is the tea cup and saucer

Audiobook - Story organiser

AUDIOBOOK LINK - The lost dog Tom

LI: To Brainstorm a narrative
LI: To write an 18 sentence explanation.
This week for writing we had to write an 18 sentence narrative based on what we planned together. We had to use google form to plan. We had to choose out of 3 images and infer what it is about. We had to use a story organiser to record our narrative. After we written our narrative by using our narrative reminder we had to make an audiobook using a specific site. We had to read our story on the mic. We had to remember the language features of a narrative and the structure TOPES.

Compulsary Tasks

LI: to learn about the Circulatory System and Respiratory System
This week for Inquiry we continued doing the Circulatory and the Respiratory System. We had to finish our task. We learned that there are three blood vessels in your Circulatory System. Those three blood vessels are called Veins, Arteries, and the Capillaries. The task we finished was the Fishbone.

Kiwi Sport

This week for Kiwi Sport we did Rippa rugby. We did the casual put on our belts and rippas and make 4 groups. 2 groups  had to have green rips and the other 2 had blue. We played an actual game of rippa rugby for the whole session. I need to work on not being offsides. I keep on being at the back of the person that has the ball that had been got ripped form the other team when I have to be in front of them that is offsides. We had to use all the skills Hamish taught us over the weeks. This was our last session with Hamish. While be were playing we couldn't Forwards pass. We could only backwards pass and side pass. At the end of the day group 4 were the winners. After that we said a big Thanks to hamish and headed back.

Commenting - Hinemoas Blog

This week for commenting I commented on Hinemoas blog. She had interesting facts about samoan dancing. If you want to check out her blog https://pbshinemoac.blogspot.com/.

Kiwi Can

This week for Kiwi can we were talking about Accountability, Responsibility, Integrity. Our enigiser for the day was shark attack. There was 4 hula hoops scattered oh the mat, 2 people will be the sharks they will hold the swimming noodles. They had to try hit people with it when Ms Lily say's ''SHARK ATTACK!", we all had to put our whole bodies in the hula hoops. If we get tagged we are out, we have to sit on the side and watch the game. We first had a practise round then we had a real game. REALZIES! After that we all had to sit down into 4 lines and Ms Lily will give us questions about what is accountibility and why we have to be responsible. We then had our Activity. It was called hand soccer we had to get into 2 even groups that had 12 people in each, there were 2 goals. We all had to number ourselves 1 to 12. Ms lily will say no.7 so number seven will go but they can only use one hand no feet. Then Ms lily changed to 2 numbers that is like 12 and 11. My team won because the other team was cheating so we automatically won. After that we talked about how we showed responsibility and honesty during our activity. Then we did our points. We had got 18 points. We need to work on Respect, Positive attitude and more. Mr Johnson came to join us. and watch our session at kiwi can.

Te Reo Maori - How to weave

LI: To learn how to weave a paper Fish
LI: To research in information on google maps.
This week for maori Whaia Ode read us a book about the Wellington harbour. It was about 2 taniwhas, one taniwha was board and wanted to go somewhere other than the river they lived in, but his other friend said no that where they lived is their home. So the other taniwha swam off to try find a place to go to the sea. There is alot more information in the book. After that We had to go on our chrome books and search up Petone, Te awa kai rangi, Somes Is., and whanganui a tara. After that we had to go on youtube and search how to weave paper fish. This is the video Link - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cop_PaofNw4. We had to follow the instructions until we had got the fish.

Inferencing - Inference detective

LI: To infer information from a text.
This week for reading Mr Wong's groups learnt how to infer information from a text. We had to watch two different videos of examples of how to infer. Inferring is reading between the lines and the author is giving hints but isn't actualy saying it. We used a Inference detective. We had to read examples and infer how the character is feeling or the age. We used this inference detective to helps us understand what inferring means. We had to try infer ourselves.

Fractions

LI: Count in fraction forward and backwards to a named whole number.
LI: Recognise a whole of an object, part of an object and equal parts of their names.
A fraction is a part of a number that makes a whole. A fraction includes Numerator and Denominator. I know Numerator by number and Denominator as Divide. Numerator is the number that the deominator has to divide is too. This week for maths we are talking about fractions. We went on this site to test our knowledge about fractions. We used a dlo called the Think board. We had to make up a fraction then we had to make this fraction is many ways. We named it in different ways, made a picture, used equipment, and also made a story to it.

Commenting - farzana

Today I commented on Farzanas Blog. She talked about her reaidng and flip grid video.

Narrative reminder

LI:  To identify the structure and language features of a narrative. Today for writing we had to Make a poster reminding ourselves of what a narrative is. We had to remember the structure and the Language features. We had to list them down in order. We had to also put dow the structure of a paragraph TEE.

Maori

Today for Moari We had Mrs Odie come into LS1 to teach us about martariki and the martariki song. Mrs Odie tought us a martariki song after that we talked about the southern cross and how to find it. We also talked little about the martariki stars. After that Mrs odie gave us a piece of paper full of moari words but it was a word find sheet that we had solve. When we finished we had show her then write the song on the bored to the back of sheet of paper. After that we had to watch a video Video/Video.

Flip Grid/ why do our muscles get tired

https://flipgrid.com/886454  PW: LS1isthebest
LI: To self monitor understanding of words and phrases.
LI:  To research the meaning of unknown words and phrases.

Today for reading we had to Make a flip grid video talking about what is the three new words that we had learnt by Reading this article called, why do our muscles get tired. We the three new words I learnt was Fatigue, Orchestra, and Flight of stairs. Fatigue is when your muscles get too tired from doing too much exercising. Orchestra means a group of instrumentals and musicians. Flight of stairs means a bunch of stairs. We also learnt how to find out what unknown words mean like Malodorous, Mal means bad and odor means smell so malodorous means bad smell.

Haiku Poem - Compulsary tasks

I learnt how to write haiku poem. We had wrote a poem about the circulatory system. We had make up an poem with in the numbers 5.7.5. We wrote our poem and also added photo's linked to the circulatory system. We showed Mr wong our poem and we only got 1 credit because a haiku poem is not really needed to be detailed.  We finished 1 compulsory task whitch was the Poem/Prose.

Lattice and Japanese methods

LI: To learn new strategies for maths equation. This week for maths we had to learn how to use the Lattice and Japanese method. This is how you use them. This is the lattice method in solving maths equations. You have to make a square box with 9 squares in it like this. Then you have to put the multiply symbol on the top right box. Then under it is 2 more boxes. For example my equation is 43 x 33, I put my 33 under the multiply symbol boxes, I put my 3 that is ten right under the multiply symbol box, then I put my 3 that is a one under the tens box.  Then I put my 4 and 3 which is the 43 on the left side of the multiply symbol. The 4 goes on the top left then the 3 goes right next to the multiply symbol. Then you add the lines going right across each box diagonally except the boxes with the maths problems in them. Then you multiply 3 to 3 which equals 9, if there is no ten then you add a zero on top and you keep repeating if there is no ten with the answer. After you did 3 x 3 you move on to the 4 x 3 and 4 x 3. Since it is 12 it has a ten you put the 1 on top instead of the zero and put the one underneath like this. Then you add it up, you have to add the numbers that are in the diagonal direction start off with the 9 all the way at the end then move to the 2 + 9 + 0 equals 11 so you move the 10 out of the 11 to the left so it is one. Then 1 + 2 + 0 and also plus the one from the right side that was coming to the left equals 4 then the final number 1 right on top, they all are 1419 that is the answer. This is how you use the japanese method, for example 28 x 23, you make 2 lines diagonally and 8 lines diagonally across from the 2 lines then for the 23 you put 2 lines going through the 2 and 8 lines and 3 lines on top. Then you circle the sides and count how many like edges there are. Then if the number is over 10 then you take away the first number and move it to the left to add to what it has for example, on one of the sides there was 24 dots that I made and  I moved the 2 to the left to add to the middle circles that were 22 so I did the same moved the first number to the left to add to what was there , and the 2 that I moved from the first circle is added to the other 2 in the middle making 4. Now the 2 from the 22 is moved to the left which had 4 edges and I added it making 6 and the answer was 644

Kiwi Can

Today for kiwi Can we learnt a new topic accountability. Accountability is Being honest and being responsible. First we played Copy me for our energiser. we played it differently we used cards to play if our group gets a card that says 3 we have to do 15 secs of fornite dances. The first group with the most cards win. After that we were talking about what do we think accountability means. Then we played another game called buddy move we had to get a partner and one partner is in front and the other at the back we all had to do it in the circle. We numbered ourselves from 1 and 2. 1 stands in the inside of the circle and 2 stands out side. When Mr Matt or miss lily says apple your partner on the outside has to crawl under the persons in the insides leg. If they say orange the person standing on the outside had to speed walk around the circle and the last person that just gets to their partner after speed walking is out. We played elimination. Banana is swapping so the person on the out side of the circle goes in side and the perosn in the inside of the circle is outside. Watermelon is when the person on the outside of the circle has to piggy bank of the person on the insides back. After that we played a quick game of GKQ master. It started off with Vayan and ended with me.GKQ master is when we have to vs other people with questions by walking around the circle. After that we went to class.

Kiwi Sport Rippa Rugby

Today for Kiwi Sport we first started with rippa rush, during rippa rush we had to use the Skills Hamish taught us on our last session of Kiwi Sport, which was about side stepping. After that Hamish was talking to us about what we need to work on.Hamish numbered us in numbers no.1, no.2, no.3. Then we played a game sort of like Rippa rush but we had to get into 3 group one group was resting and the other 2 playing. One group was running and another group was defending. The running group had to run to the other siude of the court without getting ripped. If multipled people  get over an only a few got ripped then the team gets one point. The defending team had to try defend the other team to make them not go the other side so they had to make a plan. They had to try make a wall so the running team can find it hard to get to the other side. After that we played an actual rippa game. We had to use the wall skills so it is hard for the other team to score. We had to tap and pass. We stayed in our 3 groups when we were playing.

Kiwi Sport - Rippa Rugby

Today for kiwisport we first had to play any direction, we all put our belts on and our rips.If you get ripped you have to sides pass or backwards pass but if you have two rips you can forwards pass. After that we had to practise side stepping, their were 3 groups and 1 person form each group had to be stuck in the mud, the people that isn't stuck in the mud had to side step the perosn and they had to try rip the rippas the person stepping. After that we had to do hit and spin, it was ike side stepping but we had to pretend that we are going one direction but we step and spin the other way. You have to try not get ripped, each person had a trun being stuck in the mud. After that we played another game of any direction, but we had to try use those stepping skills. After that we had toget into two and Hamish will number us, after that we had to line up and when we do when hamish says our number we had to run behind the line and get the or if our tean doesnt get the ball then we have to try rip the other teams rip with the ball but the person with the ball had to try side step and score. After that hamish started to say 2 or 3 numbers from each team. After that we had to put our belts and rips away and we headed back to LS1.

Advantages in Retail Shopping

This week for cybersmart we were learning about the advanteges of retail shopping. Advantage means like a good point. We had to work in groups to find the advantages in shopping in retail. We had to use a padlet to write it all down here is some that was written: You can see if the quality is good or not./if the thing says what it is not then you can get your money
back /If you are looking at one thing that you don't like you can go and look at something else .
You can get somehing instead of the one./You can see  if the food is expired or overdue. /You can ask the shop keeper if you could maybe get a discount on the product you want to buy. / Customers might not know if the product is worth the money. That was some of the things that we wrote down.

Matariki Maori

Today for maori we were talking about Matariki. We watched different videos about matariki, They were A matariki Story, Matariki, and the matariki story from Toni Rolleston - Cummings, The story of matariki.  Those were the video we watched. We had to do some reasearch about matariki. Then We watched a video called Maori Poi Dance - Melville Intermediate School, Whaia Ode made us watch it so she could teach the boys how to use the sticks. When we watched the videos about maatariki we larnt something. This is one of the stories. Long ago their was nothing but darkness, Ranginui the god of the sky and Papatuanuku Mother earth had children all was good til they were growing up, they wanted more space and more room that one day one of their sons were pushing them apart it was Tane Mahuta, the parent woke up but they were separated already. Ranginui the god of the sky was full of sadness so he cried making rain, but someone was sad too it was their son the god of the wind Tawhiri he felt sad for his parents, so he cried tears of lightning, he got his tears and threw it up to the heavens and they became stars and those starrs were called the stars of matariki.

Kiwi Can

Today for kiwi Can our enigiser was when we all had to circle up one hand behind and we have one hand to try hit the ball from comming in between our legs. We played a couplpe of rounds of this. The last 5 or 6 people that were still standing was the winners. After that we talked about how we could be good role models and why should we be good role models. We should be good role models so we can inspire young kids to copy us but if we make bad choices they might copy us and think that they are doing something good. After that we had our activity, it was called the silent one. We had got into 4 groups. Miss lily would write down things on the white board for us to do when we role the dice and it lands on the number then we have to do whats written down like if it lands on 4 our group has to do a 5 second fornite dance. We all had to do this but we had to be quiet if we talk then our team is desqualified.

Elective tasks - Inquiry

LI: to learn how to work as a team
Today is the last day of Nutrition and the Digestive System. We had to blog everything we completed. I completed the Double Sequence Chart, Venn Diagram, Fishbone and Song Lyrics.

Venus fly trap trapping mechanism - Explanation

LI: To write detailed paragraphs. This week for writing we had to learn how to do detailed paragraphs. We learnt that paragraphs first start off with a statement then a description. We had to do a remake of Mr wong's venus fly trap explanation but with detailed paragraphs. We had to do over 3 sentences for each sentence. We had to make our sentences bigger and paragraphs longer. I had got this information about venus fly traps from reading sites about Venus fly traps that were suitable for kids.

Site review

LI: To Summarise a text using keywords. This week for reading we had to read this site which talked about the human digestive system. We had to make a review about what we think about the site. This is what I said - "So I think this is a really good site, you could find out more about the human digestive system and the organs included. People who read this site and is on a high level  might get a pretty clear definition about the digestive system.

I have been using this site for more information about the digestive system and it is really helping me. This site is really good it just doesn’t talk about the main parts of the human digestive system it also talks about the other parts like your Liver, Pancreas, Salivary Glands, and rectum. When you read this it gives you a lot of information but this site is not for all levels of reading. Even though you already know the digestive system you might learn a lot more. For example the appendix, doctors used to think that the appendix was just one small piece but actually the appendix stores bacteria, not just any bacteria good bacteria, I have got this fact from the site. This site also gives fun facts about the organs too like how the small intestine has about 5 million tiny villi."

Volume and Capacity

https://flipgrid.com/5e6881 - Flip Grid Video

LI: To Explain the difference between Volume and Capacity. This week for maths we had to make a google draw about volum and capacity. We had to pick out two square type looking objects and measure the capacity. Capacity is the Height, Width, and Depth. When we measured it we had to mulitply them up to see how many ㎤ (cm square). Then we had to do the volume. Volume is how much something takes up. We had to do water. We had measuring cups to see how many ml of water could fit in the containers we chose. Before that we had to estimate how many ml we think it is and when we measured it we have to see if our estimation was close or not. We had to make a flip grid video about us explaining our understanding of volume and capacity.
