Kiwi Sport -Rippa Rugby
This week for Kiwi Sport we all put our belts on and our rips and then we played Rippa rush. It is kind of like ball rush but we have to rip the rippa off the people to get them to be taggers. After that we did any direction passing. So there were 3 groups with 7 people in it. Two teams has to verse and the other has to watch. We all had to have either green or blue rips. The teams who were resting had to sit in the fale. After that we started to learn about how to backwards pass. The person with the ball has to take 2-3 steps then pass it to the perosn behind them and then repeat. We all took turn to backwards pass and after we all got the hang of it we could play any direction again. If you get ripped you have to sides pass or backwards pass but if you have two rips you can forwards pass. We played several rounds. After that we headed back to LS1.

Kiwi Can
For Kiwi Can we first had to sit in a circle and rephrase what we learnt and what we did last week for Kiwi Can. Then we talked about how we could be good role models to other and who are the peole we look up to. Our Theme and topic for Kiwi Can was Integrity and Being a good role model. Then it was our enigizer, we all had to stand up and we played bang. First we had a practise the we went to realsiez, that is when we play the game for real. So someone had to stand in the middle and say a name and the perosons name was called had to bob down and the people beside the person had to say bang and shoot each other the last person to say bang it out or if someone else bobs down our says bang when they are not suppose to they are out and it saves the people. After that we talked about how did we show integrity during the game. Then we had our activity. We played tutti fruity. We all had to stand in a circle and face right. Then mr matt will say apple or orange or bannana or grape. Apple means we have to jump forwards, orange means we have to jump backwards, banana means we have to turn around, and finally grape means to bob down. We played 3 rounds of this. Mr matt kept making it harder and harder by say 4 fruits at a time or 5, 3, 6. After that the winners of the game had to do a story teller. They had to be back to back and the person who was in the middle had to say a story and the people back to back had to walk foward until the storyteller says the magic word and they both have to turn around and say bang to shoot eachother. The Last person is out. AFter that we talked about how we showed being good role models during the game. Then we had time to do GKQ.

Commenting
Today I commented on Lorenzo's Blog. He was talking about how he talked about some facts about the winter learning journey.
Kiwi Can
This week for kiwi Can we were talking about Integrity and role model. We had a visitor named debbie, she came to tell us a story becasue miss lily and mr matt were running late. She was a teacher for 18 years until she fell and broke her leg. She is in recovery. Miss Lily told us what do we think role model means to us. I said '' to me role models means when you take the responsibility and take care of other peoples things''. After that we had our enigizer. We had to split up into 2 teams. one person from each team had to sit on a chair with blindfolds on holding a pool noodle the other people in had to try get the pen that the people holding the noodle had to guard the pen under their feet this game was called doggie doggie. After that we talked about how we could be doog role models to young people or who we look upto. Then we played whos missing. We all had to lie on the ground and close our eyes and mr matt and miss lily will choose some people they will hide them and we all have to guess who it was. This was a really fun game. Then the bell rang and we went back to class.
Kiwi Sport - Rippa Rugby
Today we had rippa rugby with Hamish. Our focus was to make a rip. First we had to put on our belts and tags. Then we played a game called everybodies it. We all had to try rip off as many tags as possible and when we ripped the we stick it on our belts. We played 2 games of this. Then we had to find a partner and play rats and rabbits. We had to face partner and one of us were rabbits and the other was rats. If Hamish said orange the people closes to the orange cones had to run to safety and the other team had to try get your rippas. We had to run straight not diagonally. It was the same if Hamish said yellow the people closes to the yellow had to run to safety. Then we had to stay in our partners and one of us was in front and one of us were at the back. The person at the back had to try rip the other persons rips. So the people infront had to run and the people at the back had to try run to rip their rips. The people at the back had to put their hand on their heads to not cheat at the beginning. Then we played rippa rush. It was kind of like octopus but instead of tagging them we had to rip their rippas and if we do then they are on the person who is ripping the rips to. After that we had to play an actual game but we could run with the ball. We split up into 3 groups 2 groups play while the other stay rest. The people who won the round had to stay one but the people who lose they had to swap with the resting team. After that we all had to thank Hamish and go back to class.

Maori - Kei Te Pehea Koe?
For maori we had been given a sheet of paper and we had to draw on it. We had to answer the questions that are Kei Te Pai, Kei te makariri, Kei te Wera, kei te riri. We had to find out the meaning and draw on the faces of how you will react for example Kei te riri, we would have to draw a person who is angry. Kei te pai is a person who is happy, kei te wera is a person who is hot like sweating and last kei te makariri which is a person who is freezing cold.

Counting Kakahi
LI: To identify keywords from a text. For reading we had to read a story called counting kakahi. We had to read the whole book and find out the answers to the questions on the concept star. We also had to read out what we have written down to our groups so we can boost our confidence. We also did a keyword list. When we read the whole thing we had to find keywords to what the text was about so when we need to search up how a kakahi life cycle works we can use those keywords.
Volume and Capacity
LI: To find out the volume and capacity of square type objects. For maths we had to find 2 square types of objects. I found 2 objects. they had to have no volume. I had to estimate how many cm i thought it was. Then I had to measure the height depth and width. Then when I got my answers I had to times them all. I used one method. I had to first break up the 15 into two and it was 10 and 5. Then I had to do 5 x 3 and I got 15. then I got a whiteboard and a white board marker and made boxes and the first box was and x stands for times. Then I just added my equation and added it all up and got the answer.

Keyword list
LI: To identify keywords from a text. I learnt that keywords are easier then just writing a sentence because when your search up sentences sometimes you don't get what you were looking for. We had to all get a book from when we had our challenge and we had to read about tyhe nervous sytem and find keywords form the book that your could use for when you need to search up things about the nevous system and the brain.
Soccer Interschool
Yesterday was PBS Football/Soccer interschool. Everyone who signed up for soccer had to all be at school before 8:50. We all split up into different groups. One group was just the year 5/6 team. Maori Pepeha
LI: To Make a pepeha about yourself. I learnt some words in maori I couldn't understand and some I could. Whaia Ode explained to us what the words meant from english to maori. We had to make a pepeha about ourselves talking about where we live, what our name is,our family, our school, and last our favourite sports. We added photos, for my parents I didn't have a picture of them so I only did the rest.

The Divider
LI: To split division problems into parts using known multiplication and division facts. I learnt that division is just like multiplication but backwards. I learnt this by using a site called the divider. You have to choose what equation you want and solve. You can split the numbers and answer them then with your answers you add it all together then you get the right answer. The divider knows the right and wrong answers so if you do the wrong answers then it says that you did it wrong if you did it correctly then you could move on to solve the next question.

The Multiplier
LI: To understand how to use the multiplier. I used this game to help me understand how to solve times tables equations by splitting it into 2, 3, or 4. I split it into 2 so I could double the 23 two times and add the answers up. I had to answer these questions.
How Did You use the Multiplier? - I used it by choosing my equation ( 23 x 4 ) and solving it by halving the 4. I just had to double two twenty threes and adding the answer together.
What number did you use in the problem? - I used the 4 by halving it.
How did you split these numbers? - I split in into two.
Why did you split this number this way? - So I could just double the 23 two times and add it up together.
Why was that the easiest way to split the number? - My equation had a 4 in it and i could split the 4 in two to double the 23 two times.
How could you show that in a diagram? - I could just put in a photo and add on a piece of text to it so it could describe the image.
