Aretha Franklin | Respect

LI: To search up the meaning of Aretha Franklins songs RESPECT.

For this task I have searched and found the meaning of the song RESPECT from aretha franklin. information from - Songs, Meanings and Facts
Meaning:

Franklin’s version of “Respect” is about a young, confident, independent woman telling her man that she does everything he wants from her and doesn’t see any reason why he disrespects her. According to her, all she demands from him is nothing short of “respect”.  Aretha’s version went on to become one of the most famous female empowerment anthems of all time.
Read more at: https://www.songmeaningsandfacts.com/meaning-of-respect-by-aretha-franklin/

My Perspective - My pov about the song is that Aretha Franklin is standing up for the rights of women/girls who are getting the disrespect from males. She is saying that all she wants is respect and thats it.

Polynesian Navigators | Past and Present

LI: To find out what gourds are used for.

This week for inquiry we are learning about Polynesian navigators. And find out what Polynesian navigators use gourds for. Gourds are a type of pumpkin and are fond in the US or mexico, Polynesian navigators used them to store rain water, they hollowed out the the gourd and they washed it, when they went on long voyages they would usually use a gourd to collect rain water and to keep it a cool they keep it in a wooden cage and dragged it around with them when the voyaged. To keep the gourd closed the cut of the top and used a string to keep it closed.

in the present day people use gourds for jewelry, Furniture, dishes, utensils, and decoration. People cut out a piece of the gourd and shape it then the they carve designs into the gourd and they then fill it in with something that is colorful and attach it to a string to create a necklace.

And we used our smart searching skills to find all the information we know now about gourds. we used key words or phrases to help find this information and we also used select or reject we had to choose the most important information to get a better under standing of the learning.

For Kiwican we were talking about Leadership. We were talking about what leaders needed to overcome, and what is a confident leader. They need to overcome fear, embarrassment, anxiety, emotions and the negative outcomes of possibilities. Leaders also need to be brave and take risks. We also shared our personal leaders in our lives, like our parents, or even someone famous. Leadership means being responsible, being confident, and patient.
