LI: To invest more of technology and transport.
This week LS1, LS2 and rm 5 had the opportunity to go and have a visit at MOTAT, MOTAT stands for Museum Of Transport And Technology. We went there to invest more of our topic we are learning for Cybersmart. We had three hosts, they were Emma, Kenza and D ( aka Damen ). Emma and Kenza were doing activities with us based on technology and transport. We were going to be doing a lot of collaboration in our activities.
Making Electric cars
LS1 year 6 started with Kenza first. We had a challenge to try make a electric car with a small motor, battery pack and a propeller. We worked in pairs. My partner was Angelica. We first started off with our wheels. We connected our wheels on with a skewer and piece of tape. Me and Angelica were under a lot of pressure because we only had 30 minutes. We spent most of the time creating the wheels and trying to start our motor and connect the propeller. We had some help from Kenza. We used some cardboard to make the body of the car. We first made the base. We connected the bottom of the car with the wheels. Unfortunately we never had enough time to finish our cars because we had to move on to the next activity with Emma.
Making a flashlight
We then moved to Emma. With Emma we made motor powered flashlights with LED ( Light emitting diode). We worked as a trio. I worked with Angelica and Hosea. We had to connect the LED to the motor and make sure it was working. After that we had got our blocks and gear we needed. We had to try make the flashlight work without using so much energy. We first made the foundation than we made our body. We used cogs, stoppers and axels. These were kind of like Lego. Our idea was to make a cranker to turn the cog on motor easily. Unfortanately we never finished but we were happy with what we almost made.
Next we had a tour around MOTAT. LS1 split up into groups. I had went with Mokai's groups ( Te Raumati's mum who volunteered). We visited the MOTAT village first, it showed artifacts from the 19th - 20th century. We also visited the Innavators, which showed new made technology that will help with the future. We also visited the car exhibit showing race cars from the 1700 - 1900. We had also visited the telephone exhibit, it showed how people communicated back in the day. We had an awesome time. I'd like to thank Mokai for coming to supervise us for the day.
I am a Year 8 student at Panmure Bridge School in Auckland, NZ. I am in Learning Space 2 and my teachers are Mrs Anderson and Mrs Fisi'iahi.

Cybersmart | Keywords | Komodo Dragons
LI: To use keywords for better searching.
This week we have been continuing with Keywords. We had to find two sites that has facts about our questions and the topic ( Komodo Dragons). The two websites I had used was Live Science and Smithsonians National Zoo. We had to copy and paste the answers to our questions. The three questions were "Where do Komodo Dragons Live?" "How long to Komodo Dragons live?" and "What do Komodo Dragons eat?".

Persuasion | How to persuade
LI: What is persuasion.
This week we had created a poster showing how to persuade. We had watched a video hosted by Kid President saying how to disagree with people, but not making them feel bad. We had also learnt how to persuade and show people how to persuade. On our poster we had to show an example of an argument between two people.
For example:
There were two people facing each other. In between them on the ground the teacher put a whiteboard with a six/nine on it. From one person's point of view it was a six and from the other person's point of view it was a nine, they argued about whether it was a six or a nine.

Money, Money, Money! | Maths Game
LI: To manage finances and profit by creating maths.
This week we had been talking about Money and Finances. We had an opening balance 50$, then we had worked our way from there by making maths activities. We had worked in our groups to finish the activities. I had worked with Sulia. We made two Level 1 activities. We had made a maths game for times tables and a maths quiz subtraction up to 20.

Swimming | Kiwi Sport
LI: To learn water safety skills.
This week was our first week of swimming fro the term and year. We had split ourselves into our year level. The seniors year level had went with the juniors. I was in the Year 6 group. We had went with the Year 1 group. We first split ourselves into least confident swimming in the deep pool and the most confident. We had two swimming instructors, Lizzy and Elizabeth. I was with Elizabeth.
We first were doing the floating. We had to float on our stomache than turn around on our back. We had tried this one by one. Than we had done another one. After we had done another floating activity but we had to lie facing down in the water the tuck our feet in and lie the opposite direction. This was hard at first but I had got it. Than we had done sommersaults from one end to the half way of the pool. Then we had done dolphin dives all the way to the half way of the pool. Then lastly we had high fived Elizabeth's hand and exited the pool after doing our favorite swimming move. Mine was the sculling.

Duffy Theatre | Duffy Guests
This week Duffy had come to our school giving a message to help other people read more, and using words to accomplish something. Their were three special visitors, two girls and one boy playing as duffy. The other two girl we playing as Sam's mum, Duffy's cousin Sam, Dismantler, Puzzler,Robot Voice and more characters. They came and showcased a play or a show.
The show was about Duffy and his cousin Sam addicted to playing this game called " Magic Bricks". Wehn it came to the summer holidays duffy was going to spend it with his cousin Sam and her Family. Sam loved playing Magic Brick so does Duffy but at Sam's house their was only one controller. Since Sam was so addicted to Magic bricks on her PS3 Duffy had no one to hang with, he was trying to get Sam's attention but she was to distracted by Magic bricks that she didn't listen. Duffy put on his Grandma's glasses and started to do her favorite dance the " Dumpling". Then all of a sudden duffy disappeared. Sam had got curious and suddenly found out that Duffy had got stuck in the game!
Duffy had found himself in the hall of mirrors choosing which skin he was going to use. Then duffy had to play the game to try get out. While he was playing his cousin Sam had did the same thing Duffy had done to get inside the game then they both had to try get out. They found out that their grandma was the inventor of the game and she teleported herself in and out of the game by doing her favorite dance.

H.I.I.T
LI: To make your heart rate go up.
This week we had done H.I.I.T for Kiwi Sport. We first put our heart moniters on then we got started.
We had partners to do our H.I.I.T session, mine was Charlize. Each workout we had a goal to make our heart rates go up to red, so like 86% - 100%. We had done each workout 30s then swap with our partner. We split our sleves into groups so some people doing one workout and some people doing another, so it is not crowded on that one workout.
Mountain Climbers
So the first rotation was Mountain Climbers, For the Mountain climbers we had go into a front support position and bring your knees to your chest as fast as you can.
Push Ups
For the push up we had to do as many push as we can to get our heart rates up. We could do it on our toes but if that was hard we could do it on our knees.
Pull Ups
So for the pull ups we had a bar where we could hold on to and pull up. We had an option of two ways for your hand position, front and back.
Squat Challenge!
Lastly, we had our squat challeng to Big Sally. We had to follow the song so if it said " Big Sally up" we need to go up and " Bring sally down" we need to squat down. When it doesn't say Bring sally up or down we need to saty in squat position until is says bring sally up. It was a very hard challenge. If we didn't do it right than we get elimanated and get out, and also if we it was too hard we drop out. I had dropped out right at the last few words.

This week I had done my basic facts boxes up to 5. I had done the Speed Demon Challenge. The time I had gotten was 3 minutes, 46 seconds and 64 milliseconds. am very proud of myself but nextime I am going to do up to 10.

Mixed Word Problems
LI: To solve word problems of different types.
This week for maths we have been soving word problems of different types. We had to solve the problems in different parts. There were Addition and Subtraction Problems, Multiplication and Division Problems, and Proportions and Ratios. We had to present our work in front of the whole maths groups, Mr wong had used his Tri-Pod to record us. Sadly I failed with a problem, so my video was cut short.

This week we have been continuing on with our dialogue to finish our narratives. We had finally polished them up and completed them. We had did this in our groups. We had did our story in the form of TOPES ( Title, Orientation, Problem, Events and Solution).

Jupiter and Neptune
LI: To find out if other planets can support human life.
We had to find out if other planets can support human life with a little bit of help with technology. Such as: Oxygen tanks and ect. We presented in front of Mr. Wongs inquiry group. We did this in groups. I was with Farzana & Charlize and we got a 3/3. Mr. Wong rated our presentations by: How good it looks, If the argument was reasoned well & If everyone had a speaking part.
He Pai Ki Ahau
LI: To make a DLO with what you like.
This week for Maori we had been doing He pai ki ahau ( What we like) in Maori. We had to create a DLO with different things that we like. The things I like is;
Mochi - There is no word in Maori for Mochi.
Cake - The way to say cake in maori is Keke.
Netball - Netball in maori is Netipaoro.
Touch Rugby - The way to say Touch Rugby in Maori is Pa Whutupaoro.

Kiwi Can | Responsibility
LI: To recap our learning from this term.
Since it was the last week of the term we had a fun day. We had played a few games of our choice.
Games:
The 2 games we played were Go home stay home and Octopus.We had played octopus on the courts and played go home stay home around the school. Mrs Mack and Miss Paige led our games.

Constellations | The Plough
LI: To identify a constellation.
This week for reading the whole classroom had been creating constellations using wooden skewers and marshmallows. We had used our Skimming and scanning skills and summarising. We had to find information about our constellation, we had did this in pairs. My partner was Taua. We both researched information about our constellation, The plough. The Plough is an asterismn that can be found in the Ursa Major constellation.
