Softball

LI: To learn new skills. Today we had kiwi sport with Allison. First we had to partner up with someone and line up. So you have to be standing next to your partner not infront  of them or behind. The people on the left side of the line had to be fielders and the right side was batting. when you are a fielder and you get the ball then put it on the cone you have to sit so every fielder can have a turn so as the batters. After that we swapped and did the same. We had to remember that our little knuckles aligned and hands together. Feet shoulder width apart, elbows up. Whenever you bat you don't let go of the bat with one hand. After that we played A game called 4 corners. So Allison was in the middle. She will have her eyes closed. We had to go find a base and stand there still while she is closing her eyes counting to 5. she would hear not see what base is the loudest so we had to be very quiet. I she say's first base the people on first base are out.

Kiwi Can

Today we had kiwi can. We played 2 games. The first game was called 21. We had to pass the ball around and count to 21. The person who landed on 21 with the ball is out. AFter that we were talking about what was conflict resoloution. We were talking about how to cheer people up. So when someone is sad you could just wait til they calm down and then cheer them up beacuse if you go to cheer them up straight away then they might not want you to come. After that we Played the second game called guess the emotion. So we had someone stand to respesent our lines. We have to act the emotion that is written on the board then the person standing has to guess it. After that we had GKQ.



Duffy Assembly

Today we had Duffy Assembly at the hall. Our Visitors was Taylor and Matt. Taylor grew up to be on the newspaper like her mum. She wanted to ride a BMX bike when she was a really young age when she finished reading her mum's newspaper. She explained how famous her mum was on the newspaper. She showed us her T-Shirts and she actually came to Vs New Zealand about riding her BMX bike.  Taylor said that she didn't like reading when she young because she thought that she wasn't reading the right books. Her favorite book to read was about Micheal Jackson. Matt loved playing rugby and loved reading. Then Taylor came into our class and competed with one of our Olympics minute to win it games.


Self Monitoring

LI: To self monitor our understanding of a text. Today I learnt that self monitoring is when you realise that you don't understand it. I made a DLO and read an article about Amelia Earhart the first person in the world to fly around the globe.  The article was called Bones Of Amelia Earhart. It was about how Amelia had to go somewhere but she didn't arrive. Then years later an anthropologist found her bones.





Cyber Smart

LI: To clean your drive. Today we had cybersmart. We had to clean our drive. We cleaned our drive my getting rid of the things that we don't need on our drive. We had to look at our drive and see why it is good to clean your googlr drive. It is good to clean it because it makes you have more space, and it won't make it look messsy.

Place Value


So Today I had to watch a video about using place value. So This is how I did it:
I started with the 1’s. I took away 5 from the 6 and it was 1. Then I took away 6 from the 7 which equals 1.
And then there was 8, 0  then since there was A 0 it was still 8. So add all those numbers together and it turned out to be 811.

Figurative Language


LI: To identify and use different forms of figurative language.
I learnt that figurative language uses Personification, Similie, Alleteration, Metaphor, and Idiom.
I learnt this by making a second event from watching pigeon impossible. I had to use Personification, Similie, Alliteration, Metaphor, and Idiom.

Cybersmart Device Skills


LI: to learn and use core digital device skills.
Today I used device skills to improve my computer skills. I did CTRL A, CTRL C, CTRL V, And CTRL Z.

Cricket

This week Wednesday we had cricket. We all will like to thank Mrs Anderson, Mr Ogilvie, and Mrs Caroline for coaching us. The year fives had competed to Pt England, Tamaki Primary and Stone Fields. We First competed to PT England. We all had excellent bowling and fielding also batting. We played well but our cheer was really disappointing. We sadly lost to pt England. Next we competed to Tamaki Primary, We also lost to them. We all tried our best. After Tamaki Primary we had a break. We were practising bowling and batting. We also had our lunch. Finally we had 2 games on Stonefields. The first game with stonfields we had  a lot of encouragement. We always said ' Aim For the wicket YOU CAN DO THIS!". Mrs Anderson was our coach. She coached us really well. We also lost to stonefields. We played another game to stonfields and all of us really wanted to win but unfortunately we didn't we lost by 2 points. We didn't care that we lost all 5 games all we cared about was trying our best and having fun.

Team Motto


LI: To make a motto for your team by using examples of different mottos. 
Today I had to work with my group to find our own motto for our emblem. We had to look at different mottos to see how mottos work. We used Bank mottos, Food Mottos, and Shop mottos. We all looked at our emblem and made our motto share it with the world because we all made our talents on our emblem so we could share our talents with everyone.TNS

'Our team motto is (Share it with the world)
This relates to our team and what our talent is. It is about our knowledge and what we do as a team. We combined our thoughts and put it together as a group. We put all our talents together in the circles that has the colours of our country and called it share it with the world so everyone can see our talents."

Self Monitoring



LI: To Monitor our understanding of a text by ourselves. Today we had to make a dlo about what we did  to how how to understand self monitoring. I had to read a book and in that book write down 3 words I don't know and say the strategies I used to figure it out.

Softball

LI: To learn how to catch. Today for kiwi sport we had Ash again. We played scatter ball but Ash threw the balls to us and we had to bat it. If we kept missing the ball Ash will let us bat from the stick. We split up into fielders and batters. I was a batter. I remembered the skill that you need to do while batting. So your feet has to be shoulder width apart, and your small knuckles has to be aligned, the bat on your shoulder, and also elbows up. Then when everyone had a turn batting we swap. When we bat and we run around the bases if you don't make it you stay at the base you are on then you wait for the other person to come so you can run and if you still don't make it your out. After that we had to get into a circle and hands on our knees. Then ash will throw the ball at any pof us but first she could fake her throw so someone can make their hands of their knees becasue if you take you hands of you knees but the ball didn't come to you your out. If you catch the ball but it falls out of your hands your out. After that we all lined up to go back to class.

SSR Selfie

Today I read a book called Merry christmas Geronimo for SSR Selfie. This book is about a Rodent Named Geronimo Stilton. It was the day before christmas time he is getting ready for his traditional christmas eve party. He is inviting all his friends and family. He had bought a lot of presents. He had to go to work. It was snowing outside so he dressed as WARM as possible. When he went to work everyone kept asking him “ Aren’t you Hot?’ and he was getting very annoyed.

Emblem Logo

LI: To create an emblem that relates to our group. Today for inquiry we had to get into groups of 5. In those groups of 5 we had to watch a video about the Pyeongchang emblem and what is means. So our emblem represents the things we like to do and the colors of our circles is the color of our country. Red = Tonga, Blue = Samoa, Yellow = Niue. We had to see the example from the Pyeongchang emblem video. We all thought to do the things we like and our countries colors. We all have something in common. We all love Music, Learning, and Sports. I learnt that if you make a emblem it always has a story behind it like a reason.

Personal Recount

                     Art Intensive week
Last week was art intensive week for the whole school. LS1 Did pop art and used Andy Warhol for an example of what type of art we were gonna do. We had to do art for the whole entire week. We did the art in LS1. Art intensive week was for the whole school.


First we had to get into groups of three and in those groups of three we had to make a DLO about Andy Warhol. We had to do it on a Google Draw. We had to use the LS1 print design rules. We read some information about Andy Warhol and watched a video about him with his artwork. I worked with Charlize and Kaitlyn.

Next when we finished our Andy Warhol we had to get into the art. We had to get a image of ourselves that Mr Wong took of us and outline our face with a blue pen. So we had to mainly outline the black parts that show on the image of us. We had to outline our hair and face.

After we had to our image and outline our face again with a red pen but there has to be a specific piece of paper under it and when we do it again it will go on that piece of paper under our image. We had to make sure that we press hard with our red pen while we are tracing our face. We had to also make sure that everything we traced with blue pen has to be traced with red pen.

After that we had to get our pencil and put our image of ourselves on the window or door and trace our faces  on the back but moving our pencil side to side. We had to do it at the back of our image of us.

Finally when we were finished tracing with our red pen we had to take the paper under our image of our face and pastel every part that is shown white on our image of our face with a bright pastel colour. We had to make sure we don't go over the lines. Later we did painting. We had to paint every black part that has been shown on our image of our face with black paint. Then at the end our artwork was complete.

I felt really nervous when we were doing this because I felt like I was going to do a mistake while pasteling and tracing.  I thought I was going to go out of the lines while pasteling and while tracing I thought I was going to trace the wrong place or forget to trace some places on the image of me.





LI: To accurately use a range of simple complex and compound sentences. Today we had to make a recount about art week. We had to use complex and compound sentences. We used TREE to do our recount, Title, Reveal, Events, Ending. I learnt that a personal recount is about what happened to you and is in the past. I learnt this by making a recount with the purpose of sentences structure. I had to write the events in order, and for the reveal I had to do the 5 W's. At the end I had to do a personal reflection. A personal reflection is when you are saying how you felt and what you thought.

Softball

LI: To practise softball skills. Today for Kiwi Sport we had had Ash. We played scatter ball to learn how to throw,catch, and also bat. We spit up into two even groups and one group was the batting team and the other was the fielding team. The batter have to be shoulder width apart with their feet and elbows up, small knuckles aligned on the bat and to put the bat on your shoulder that has you hand you write with.So for scatter ball we had to have a batting team and a fielding. First round of scatter ball the batters have to bat two balls and if the fielders get the ball and put it on the cones and the batters are still running around the bases then they have to stop at one of the bases and wait til the next batter runs so they can run. The second round the batter only had to hit one ball and the same to wait at the base for the other person comes and runs so you can run.

Kiwi Can

LI: To give it a Go! 
Our topic for Kiwi Can was Leader and the themem was Positive relationships. Today for Kiwi Can LS1 group A had Kiwi Can with Mr Matt and Miss Lily. First we had our enigizer. Our enigizer was Rock, Paper, Scissors. We had to walk around and find a buddy then you have to play rock paper scissors and if you losse then you have to go behind the person you lose to and chant their name. The last person that challenges rock paper scissors with someone else they win. After that we were talking about how leadership had been envolved with our enigiser. Then we played charades. We had to make our people that was in our four lines our group fro charades. So Mr matt will have to take one person from each group outside and give us an action then we have to act it out infront of our group and  if they get the answer they win. After that we did GKQ. We played another round of charades becasue we had a lot of time left fro kiwi can.


Maths Problems


LI: To learn how to use different ways to solve matrhs problems. Today we had to solve 2 maths problems using different techniques. I used Number line, and Place Value. I learnt that you can solve diferent problems using different techniques. I learnt that by using 2 different techniques to solve 2 different problems.

LI. To learn how to do pitching. Today for Kiwi Sport we played a activity called house 1 house 2. To play this game we had to get into a line with boy girl boy girl when you get in a line you get started then run to each base then the other person runs. After that we did L K Flick. We had to make an L with our arm and then K and flick.

Activate Prior Knowledge

LI: To talk about what is Activating Prior Knowledge. I Learnt that activate prior knowledge is when you use your own knowledge you already know. I learnt this by making a DLO about what is activate prior knowledge.

Rounding Numbers


LI: To Create a dlo and solve problems. I learnt that the nearest 10 to 298 is 300. I learnt this by rounding numbers by finding the nearest 10. Today I had to create a DLO with me solving math equations. 

Andy Warhol


LI: To create a dlo about Andy Warhol. So today I had to get into a group of 3 and create a dlo about the famous Andy Warhol. We had to do the 5 W's. I worked with Charlize and Kaitlyn, we found information about andy warhol and also photo's of his art work. We had to also attribute the image we found.

Pop Art

LI: To create a piece of art work related to pop art. Today we had to make our own self portrait with art. We had to go through a range of instructions to get our piece of art done. First we had to get an image of ourselves and outline our face with a blue pen.  After that we had to get our pencil and put our image of ourselves on the window or door and trace our faces  on the back but moving our pencil side to side. When I finished tracing myself I went to go show the teacher and they put a piece of white paper at the back of our image and outline ourselves again with a red pen and it will go onto the the piece of paper.  I didn't press hard enough that's why you can’t see. Finally I had to pastel the white parts that show on my face from the Image I had but not the black parts. AFter that when I finished I had to paint the parts that I didn’t pastel black. When I finished with that I left it to dry out and when it dried I vivid out my face and ears, hair.

Kiwi Can

Today for Kiwi Can Miss Lily and Mr Matt told us to remind them what were the theme and Topic we did for last week. Our catchphrase was " Leaders are Fair, Leaders are fun, Leaders include everyone'. After we had to play our enigizer. Our enigizer was Hammer. So we had to find a partner and one person put there fist on the bottom them the other person's hand on top and then again and again until your hands look aligned. When Miss Lily says Up then the person who's hand is on the bottom has to go up, but if miss lily says down them the person who's hand is on top has to go on the bottom. When Miss lily says hammer then the person hand on top has to hit the other persons hand underneath it if the person they had to hit underneath their hand moves their hand is the person who won. We also played Copy Me.

I did the SSR selfie and my book was   the Lost  Jewels of nabooti. It was about these jewels. If the owner of them loses them or if any one loses them then it may leave to DEATH! This is a interesting  book.  

Maths Strategies


LI: To make a problem that is a 2 digit answer and make different ways to solve it. I learned about how there is different ways to solve a problem. You can use Number Bonds, Place Values, Place Value house the hundreds,tenths, and ones, also Multiplication. I learned by finding out different ways to solve the problem. I used Addition, Number bonds, Place Values, Place value house, also addition. I made a google draw and had a problem I made up. I had to figure out different ways to solve it.  

This vs That


LI: To find information about the Olympics.
I learnt about how the Olympic Motto is in Latin it is Citius, Altius, Fortius and the english is Faster,Higher,Stronger. I learnt by searching up some facts about the Olympics and seeing the differences to PBS or the similarities.

Kiwi Sport Soft Ball

LI: To learn how to Bat.I learned about how to bat and how to hold the bat. To bat we have to look at the ball instead of looking where we want the bat to go. Our feet has to be shoulder width apart. We have to put the bat on our shoulder that has the hand we write with.I learned by playing a game called Scatter ball. So there is a some people who is fielding and some other people were batting. Every person got a turn to bat and be a fielder. Everyone tried their best and some people could hit the ball with the bat pretty far but not far away. When you bat your two softballs you have to run around as many times as you can and try touch the bases before the fielders put the two balls you hit on the cones. You can hit the softballs far away so it can be more time for us to run around as many times as possible.
